I visited Camino Bakery while on a business trip in Winston-Salem for a few days. Frankly I did not have big expectations (for whatever reason...playing it safe perhaps), but man they make GREAT coffee. I ordered an almond milk 12oz latte several times and every time it came out delicious (one person gave me mostly foam, so now I am specific about light foam, but I had the feeling if I mentioned it they would have easily remade it for me). Then I started eating their brownies and quiche, and man, they really are a bakery! And kudos to the manager as every one who helped me was kind, friendly and welcoming.
Nice coffee shop downtown that also offers teas and pastries. The space just opened back up after renovations that expanded the square footage. This new layout makes the place not only feel more spacious but offers additional seating, which sometimes would be difficult to find.If you're someone who needs a dairy alternative, they have you covered with a few different options. They also usually have at least 2+ vegan baked goods on hand everytime I pop in.
The name may be Camino Bakery (and their baked goods are absolutely stellar), but I’m here for the coffee! Super solid espresso shots and their drip coffee knocks it out of the park. Camino rivals any specialty coffee shop around!Whoever is choosing which roasts to use from Counter Culture Coffee Roasters really understands coffee and they train their baristas well. I would prefer a lighter roasted coffee for my espresso, but I got two defect free shots on different days so I can’t complain! I got drip coffee in both the morning and afternoon near closing time and it was good at both times.Huge shoutout to whoever developed the recipe for the Tarta de Santiago, it was amazing.
Went here for a quick lunch when I got to town, the pastry was absolutely wonderful and the hot apple spice was delicious. I loved the food so much that I went back the next morning when my hotels breakfast was underwhelming. Even the day old baked bread was still fresh!
Stopped in at opening to pick up some car treats. I had a Chai Tea Latte which was lacking in a creamy milk tasting. Hubby had ice tea which was delicious and tasted as it was sweeten with honey. Cookies were the size of my hand. The ginger molasses was excellent. Hubby bought banana walnut bread and said the nuts were fresh and the bread seasoned well Definitely worth a stop
We got the Matcha Shakerato, the Basil Cafe, a cinnamon scone, and a cinnamon roll.Their matcha was some of the best I had and the cinnamon roll was delish. The scone was mediocre and the basil coffee left something to be desired. So all in all..."Good, not great" - Dwight Schrute
A really nice staff is there to help you , and they offer way too many delicious choices of baked goods. If I worked there, I'd weigh 400 pounds. Lots of coffee and tea options and some outside tables to help you enjoy the sunshine.
We went to the downtown location twice for breakfast. It appears they are in temporary quarters until the space next door gets remodeled. They have a number of baked goods—scones, a variety of croissants, bagels, sticky buns, etc. The coffee is very good. The baked goods are good enough , but honestly I can’t rave about them. Still, I’d definitely return.
I came with my family to enjoy some coffee and pastries, and that's exactly what we did! I ordered a molasses cookie latte and a sugar cake, the cake was interesting and I enjoyed it a lot! The coffee wasn't exactly to my taste and I couldn't get very far into it. The barista was so sweet and awesome. She immediately helped me pick out a new coffee, the golden hour. Absolutely delicious!! Thank you so much, Kristy!!!
I disappointed there! My latte was cold. The taste of coffee was not strong as well!
