This place knows wine. Service however could use some tightening up. Front reception was curt after asking to sit near a fan - mind you this was for outdoor seating. All leftover cheese the waiter too to bag up from my cheeseboard was missing from my takeaway bag.Pimento cheese was delicious as usual. Nothing bad enough that I wouldn’t return but also know there are other options when considering.
Heard about this restaurant after having a glass of wine at the Fortunate Glass on 2nd street downtown. Highly recommend both for great wine, food, and service. Recommend she-crab soup- thick with touch of sherry, green lettuce salad, and NY strip steak.
We went for the wine, which did not disappoint. We had 4 couples and consider ourselves wine enthusiasts. Be prepared for the extensive wine list. They were offering 3 wines as a pairing so we tried those. The charcuterie was great w alot of different jellies and pickled veggies. All of large plates have a wine paired with them. Although we went for the wine, the food was great. The burger with the pimento cheese is a double burger and has sautéed onions. The fingerling potatoes in duck fat were Devine. The staff were absolutely the best, Justin not only kept our glasses filled but kept us laughing the entire time.
This may be the best overall dining experience in Wilmington. Expansive wine list served by servers who understand what they are pouring. A thoughtful menu that changes with the seasons. Little details, like the quality of the tableware are spot on. The beautiful surroundings, even the Ladies Room décor. Sit at the bar or outside on the comfortable sofas or tables or in the pretty dining room. And you won't break your bank either.Outstanding. I fear the scarcity of parking is going to become an issue as South Front continues to grow. But that is beyond the proprietor's control.
Anyone who understands hospitality and food quality would easily without hesitation agree that this is one of the best restaurants in Wilmington. I dined the other evening and was positively overwhelmed by the food on the new menu. Their options cater to every individual including an outstanding vegan selection! The cashew cheese! The wine selection is carefully selected and the owner Celeste is happy to point you in the right direction when it comes to pairing. Hands down a must go spot.
If you are looking for exceptional quality food, great service, and a relaxed, but hip sort of atmosphere, The Second Glass is the place to go. The wine list is HUGE and, most likely will accommodate most people's tastes.The Root Vegetable greens were bursting with flavor with a nice assortment of complimentary vegetables and a killer sauce I would love to get the recipe for.The stuffed acorn squash is terrific and so filling that we fell short of eating the entire portion.And, if you have room, the chocolate brownie with coconut ice cream is an excellent way to complete a delicious meal.Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and gave us just the right amount of attention to top off one truly delightful experience.Parking is limited, so leave yourself enough time to park and make it to your reservation.
Overpriced, average food, and terrible service. Not a place that is designed to serve the folks who can afford to live in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is like being in a convention center corridor or a chain hotel lobby. The first time we tried to come here, we were ignored by front of house for over 5 minutes. We left then, but eventually came back once for dinner after receiving a gift card from someone.
We ended up here after somewhere else didn’t work out. So glad we did! The food was just divine! Get the duck! Our group has a few dietary needs (gluten free and vegetarian). There was something for everyone and the menu was clearly marked. The waiter, Justin,was perfect and the manager had the best recommendations! He took the time to speak to us about our wine selection. The atmosphere is so cozy and well done (interior designer myself so I notice all the things). One word… perfect
