All three of our salads and the dressings were fabulous!! Highly recommend The Basics!!

We stopped in for lunch after sight seeing. The staff was great! They were friendly and always making sure we had what we needed. The menu is a QR code, which is great, unless you don’t have a phone. The crab cakes were great. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich. It was ok. I was expecting more flavor. Over all we had a great experience.

Absolutely delicious food and remarkable service! Our waitress Janae went above and beyond!

Very good cafe in downtown Wilmington. Comfort food in a cozy atmosphere. Had an unbelievable piece of salmon, cooked perfectly. Great spot to grab a quick bite!

Food was delicious and service was good, despite being busy. Staff was very friendly. I especially enjoyed the potato cakes!

Loved it! Great food, great service with awesome outside seating!

I loved this place. I was in Wilmington for two nights and came here on both. The first night I had lovely lamb chops with a mushroom risotto and the second blackened catfish. Well made cocktails both nights and the staff was very friendly

We visited The Basics for breakfast when we were in Wilmington, NC recently, and it did not disappoint. We read reviews for a breakfast spot and came up with this place. Service was quick, food was good, fresh, hot, and made as ordered. As the restaurant's name indicates, it carries basic breakfast fare. We will definitely go there the next time we are in Wilmington.

We were hungry and could not get into another restaurant and found The Basics. What a wonderful surprise! Husband had Meatloaf on mash potatoes with Brunswick stew and I had a Pimento grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of Sirloin vegetable soup. Every bite melted in our mouths, it was truly a great lunch. The soups look the same but had completely different flavors. The server and staff were great also so it was a "Ten" for us.

I went with my family for dinner tonight while vacationing at Carolina Beach. We wanted to go into downtown Wilmington for a change of scenery for the night. We researched online various restaurants, menus, reviews quickly before deciding on this one (my daughter’s pick). OMG! Welcoming, friendly hostess as soon as we arrived. Cute place inside. Variety of items on the menu including some specials of the day (look online). I ordered the lavender gin gimlet which was so good, along with a southern deviled egg/pimento cheese dish. We are from Wisconsin, so I wanted to try something I’ve never had before. Delicious! My daughter had a pasta dish (special of the day) so good! Husband had Brunswick stew w greens on the side. Seriously, it was all so delicious! Don’t research or look any further for food I’m downtown Wilmington. Just go here.
