Beautiful restaurant right on the water. Excellent meals and drinks are phenomenal
Nice waterfront dining and good service! I’d go back for sure!
What a wonderful meal we had. Our first time at Pilot House. Ethan made us feel so welcome and was a very sweet guy. Highly recommend and ask for Ethan!
My favorite place along the river with great service, too. Our bartender suggested several fantastic selections & even made a refreshing mock-mojito for our DD. Love their wine list!5/27: Back again today for lunch and had the shrimp & grits. Daughter had fried catfish meal, husband had blackened salmon. Great service and fantastic food. Their shrimp & grits (fried grit cake ) is one of the best I’ve ever had.
This was a wonderful meal for my wife and me. I had the steam pot and it was a good meal. My wife had the shrimp and lobster risotto and it was delicious. The view on the balcony was great, the sun was pretty brutal, it was sitting and the umbrellas didn’t help…. But a small price to pay for good service and food. Plus the view.
The outdoor seating area is huge. The view is absolutely gorgeous. We ordered the crab dip and the charcuterie board for appetizers. They were both delicious I just wish the charcuterie boars had more food for the price. I ordered the fresh catch which was snapper and I asked for it grilled with garlic butter it tasted fantastic! Overall this is a great place to eat!!
We have enjoyed dinning at the Pilot House for 30+ years and it used to be our go-to Wilmington restaurant. Unfortunately, the last few times we have been disappointed. Most recently we started with the hot crab dip which was good, but nothing special. I had the Captains Plate - fried flounder, shrimp, oysters, and sea scallops, served with french fries and coleslaw. It was a large serving of typical fried sea food – tasty but not outstanding. My wife had the shrimp and lobster risotto and it was not good. It was so salty she couldn’t eat it at all. Commendably, the server struck it from our bill so we didn’t have to pay for it. On the whole, we decided that the Pilot House was now just a typical Wilmington sea food restaurant and, with so many better choices, we won’t be returning anytime soon.
Beautiful outdoor dining on the Cape Fear River at Sunset. We had a very light, chilled bottle of rose. Shared the peasant salad. For entrees we did the salmon and grouper catch of the day pan seared with rice and veggies. Plus a shrimp with fried grits.
Great waterfront location. We sat in outside patio and the plastic windows draped to floor and kept us very warm. Servers were friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were just so so, everything was on the walmart range in quality but all was edible, nothing stood out as worth coming again.
Visited for our anniversary dinner. Great food. Service with a smile. Tables by the windows give great views of the Cape Fear River. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
