We dropped in after one of the city tours. My daughter and I ordered grilled jumbo shrimp bento boxes in order to get a little taste of everything. The miso soup was barely lukewarm. The ginger dressing was nice. When the bento box came, it was clear the shrimp were neither jumbo nor grilled. They served boiled, overcooked shrimp tossed in a slimy teriyaki sauce. It was inedible. The second shrimp I tried tasted off. When the waitress came with the check, she didn't even questioned that we had not eaten the main part of the meal. Stick to the sushi. At least they have to make it fresh
Sadly this place has gone downhill. I wouldn't trust them if you have an allergy, as they do not follow the proper guidelines. I give one star for the sushi and and preparation of it. The other star is for the new server who went above and beyond to try and make things right. He did a really great job but the food was a huge disappointment.
They were lovely people with some fantastic food. They accommodated a larger party with ease and kindness. They even gave my girlfriend free cheesecake and sake bomb for her 21st birthday. We got there an hour before they closed so we felt kind of bad but they were extremely respectful and kind!
Ordered via uber eats, arrived very quick. We ordered shrimp and steak hibachi. Both hibachi orders tasted ok but tasted more like a Chinese dish and not at all like hibachi. The shrimp were large and good. The steak was tough like a tough roast. Portion sizes were adequate for one person meal but much smaller then what we typically get when ordering hibachi as we normally have plenty of leftovers. Nothing at all bad but just way below expectations.
Always good at the basics. Tried many sushi places around the world but when it comes to purely good-tasting sushi I haven't found a better place. Service is always good. Take one of the window seats to people watch while you enjoy lunch or dinner. Burgers are great here too!
Nikki’s never disappoints. It was my birthday today yay! I ordered Angle hair and firecracker roll and my husband ordered beer French fries with Avocado salad. The food always taste very delicious. It’s one of the few places that sells great quality Sushi in town. Darin was our server and he was making sure that we all set. He was very friendly and welcoming. I am glad I chose them to celebrate my birthday. I will be back soon!
Delicious! I ordered two spicy salmon rolls to go and they were delicious! Lots of fresh salmon with a perfect amount of spice. I will definitely come here again ?
I’ve been to over 20 sushi places in my day, and this is the best sushi i’ve ever had! It’s the best in wilmington by far, and i would go far and say that it’s the best in North Carolina! The service is always quick, and the servers are so nice! If you’re reading this, please go one day! you will not regret it!!
Yikes! This used to be my favorite sushi spot downtown for two reasons:1) always quick2) staff was greatWent tonight with my mother and my son. We were ready to make a big sushi order. There were 2 servers and maybe 5 other tables in the entire restaurant. The sushi chefs were both just literally standing there on their phones. I think awesome- let’s order a feast every table except one already has food, this will be nice & quick. Nope. I watched our server put together two separate take out orders while walking past our table no joke, 8 different times without a single word. I tried to polity make eye contact- eye contact happened twice- still she didn’t say a word to us. Then I watch her go and get a sheet of paper which looked to be a new online order, this is AFTER packing the two take out orders, walk past us again and go straight to a computer console to start keying in this online order. Meanwhile we’re just sitting there and had been sitting there ready to order for a good 7-10 minutes. Definitely not how things used to run in there. You figure with that little business inside the actual restaurant they would take care of in person customers before very blatantly ignoring them to tend to take out orders. Or at least take care of the in person customers in between takeout orders not ignore them for what seemed like three separate bagged orders in a row. We ended up just leaving and going across the street for sushi and way better service.
Nikki's Fresh Gourmet isn't much but their sushi is good. I'll try their other items on the menu if there isnt anything else to eat.
