Have long enjoyed J. Michael's! The Reuben sandwich is my go-to, but I've never been disappointed with any of their sandwiches. Their Club sandwich is Huge! Always get an order of fried mushrooms! Delicious! Staff is always friendly and attentive. Stop by and enjoy a cold beer with your sandwich, and enjoy!
To be honest, I'm totally biased in favor of this place as my dad was their OG cook & trainer for 20+ years. I make a point of coming here every time I come back to Wilmington. Food is always good & the staff is usually friendly.
Delicious. There was so much food and the atmosphere was comfortable and cozy. Nothing like a good mom and pop Deli.
Came two weeks ago and took a long time to even be acknowledged upon arrival. They left one sandwich on the warmer so we had to come back for it after everyone else ate. Tried again today and still had to wait 15 minutes on one sandwich (other three were done) and no pickles. It was such a fiasco, I would left if I hadn't paid over the phone to speed up the process.

Although these are still favs and very well cooked why haggle about ranch? Why not one full cup with the order and buy an extra ranch that’s a full cup? I have 3 half full cups and I paid for one of them ? Should we be saving plastic too?
Delicious! A must visit Deli in town. It is like going to Disney and not visit Mickey Mouse! Lol
This afternoon my Godmother and I went for lunch at this location. As soon as we were seated we placed our order bc we pretty much knew what we wanted. After a few minutes of being in there, the cook, began ranting on about his dislikes with management. Profanity at it's highest was spilling out of his mouth. Finally, one of the shift leads, a young lady approached him about his attitude and language at which time both of them began to argue loudly while his daughter who also worked there chimed into the argument to defend her daddy. This was absolutely inappropriate behavior at it's finest. Several customers left and another lady that did an online paid order canceled her order and left. Horrible service, horrible staff, horrible experience.
Saw this place on a TikTok and went on a whim. As someone originally from Philly living in Myrtle Beach, j Michaels was such a treat. My family and I took a daycation to Wilmington and had j Michaels in mind due to the fact that they import their meat and rolls from Philly. They did NOT disappoint. Great prices, great portion sizes, AUTHENTIC taste, and a few different spins on a cheesesteak. Happy we decided to come here, and we will be returning customers, as well as telling everyone from our block we found the best cheesesteak place within an hour or so driving distance ?
I’ve been waiting to try this place for years and it didn’t disappoint. We were immediately greeted when we arrived and seated. Our drinks were refreshing and constantly refilled, it was a lunch hour rush so I expected a wait but once we ordered we had our food within 10 minutes. Everything was hot and fresh. The fries were delicious! Perfectly salted. I tried two of the John’s Islands! It’s a recipes my brother had me try and man it was dynamite! I’ve tried to recreate it, without success! It’s an unusual combination of peanut butter, Mayo and onions to top off your dog, and absolutely delicious in every way. Each bite is packed full of flavor. Their sweet tea brought back memories of my childhood when that’s all we had to drink! It wasn’t too sweet and had a good tea flavor. If you are interested in trying a different foods that are dynamite out of this world you have to stop into Grab a Johns island hot dog! We will definitely be back to visit whenever we are in the area! Definitely make sure you try the pickle wedges and ranch! Mmmm they are absolutely delicious! Thanks for the wonderful experience and being so good to my brother. He is always meeting new friends, and this is a good bunch of people. Added bonus: this is a family run business. Stay local and support local! Keep up the good work! We will be back!
