Ordered delivery from Capricho thru Uber Eats last night since I was consuming adult beverages at home and was doing the "responsible" thing by not driving. I've ordered Capricho before and thought the meal was very good so I re-ordered the same items again for a second round, in order to document this review.FOOD: Elotes (Mexican street corn), cheese quesadilla, chips and queso and a grilled chicken burrito with lettuce, rice, black beans, fresh jalapeno, queso fresca, salsa and chopped onion. The elotes was for my wife and she said it was very good. When asked how it compared to her favorite, she stated it wasn't as good due to it being very sweet but she still enjoyed it. Our son's quesadilla was just as it's made south of the border and is simple. The cheese blend was plentiful and the tortillas were soft. The side of creamy chili powder dip wasn't bad at all but since it's served very cold, even I preferred the quesadilla without it, once I took a small bite. My burrito was large...very large. It was wrapped neatly in foil and was hot once I sliced into it. The ingredients were very fresh and savory but this burrito was also bland. I was expecting some spice, heat or kick with each bite but there was none. After I added some Valentina hot sauce on top of each bite, the true flavors of the ingredients finally shined. The best summary I can say about this burrito would be this...it's an X-large burrito from Chipotle, when Chipotle is on their game 100% (which is very rare). It was good, just not great. I appreciate how fresh the ingredients were. If I ordered this again, I would order it with cheddar jack cheese, extra jalapeno and no rice inside. There was such a large rice-to-chicken ratio, that the chicken got lost inside with many bites. The star of the night are their multi-colored chips and queso cheese dip. Both were fantastic but there's something about the seasoning dusting on the chips that make them incredible. Quite possibly, my favorite tortilla chips in town now. SCORE: 3.8 STARS!!SERVICE: Used Uber Eats and was delivered to my door 15 mins earlier than advised. All food was hot, properly packaged and nicely presented for delivery. SCORE: 5 STARS!!OVERALL SCORE: It's tasty, fresh and portionally pleasing. With some heat / spice modifications to the burrito, quesadilla dipping sauce and maybe finding a way to char-grill the corn over an open flame for the elotes, this could be seriously great food. Pricing was very fair though and I would try them again. 3.9 STARS!!!
This is the second time ordering from here though Uber eats. First time the salsa was watered down and had a funny fishy taste and my carne Asada taco literally disintegrated in my hand. This time was even worse I asked for the meat to be off to the side so that the shells wouldn’t be soggy which did not happen so once again the shells just fell apart without me even taking a bite. The meat was way to salty and over cooked on my second order. I opted to not get the chips and salsa this time and try the street corn which is usually one of my favorite Mexican dishes and I was saddened the corn was literally Brunt to a crisp with no flavor except for the cheese, mayo and chilly powder no corn flavor what so ever. I will not be trying this place again. Giving 2 stars based on the fact the first time my carne asada tasted good just couldn’t eat it as a taco and the plantains where really good on my second order.
So delicious!!! We tried the carne asada tacos, barbacoa tacos, tamales, elotes, and chips with queso/salsa/guacamole. Everything was fresh and service was great. The food is FIRE and the prices are very reasonable.
I love capricho- the food is delicious and reasonably priced. I only wish they would do away with the styrofoam takeout containers; I would get takeout here much more often if they switched to something more eco-friendly.
Capricho's is the BEST Mexican food downtown Wilmington. I work downtown and visit Capricho monthly. The daily specials are always delicious but the quesadillas omg! And the staff is nice and actually greets you when you walk in the door.
While in Wilmington we were fortunate to find a hip cool and fresh Mexican restaurant on Princess Street. The tacos were amazing. My husband had the shrimp and he is still talking about it today! The vegetables were amazing and I ate the pork with pineapple! Chips were colorful and fresh and the house made salsa was superb. Not to mention the guacamole. Atmosphere is great and Dan the chef should have his own cooking show. Everything hot and fresh. And oh my gosh the street corn! Never have I ever tasted it prepared like that. So flavorful! We will definitely return next time we are in the area! You have to give it a try and watch this chef in action! He’s genius.
I was in town for business and located this place. It was just ok. I had some fish tacos that were dry. The beans and rice were very good.
This place have the best quesadillas I've ever had in my entire life. The tacos are the best I've ever had in my life as well. The staff is super friendly and fast. The only thing I'd like to see is a soda fountain instead of cans. But that's more of a personal preference thing.I'd give 6 stars if I could.
First time coming in and staff was very friendly. Small operation but very good quality! So fresh and not greasy. We got the shrimp taco with fried onions, the pork with pineapple salsa, and queso and chips. They give insane amount of food so be prepared. They always season their chips! Whatever that seasoning is, is amazing.. will bring friends here for sure in the future. We have a new favorite restaurant. If only it wasn't 2 hours away ?
Very small space, but it's so awesome! Fantastic tacos.
