While visiting my in-laws, they took my wife and I here for dinner. I wasn't that hungry to begin with, but they were, so I just went along. I'm glad I did.We split the bill, so I could get what I wanted and not feel guilty about the price. My in-laws got the large order of the Little Piggy nachos for all of us to share, and even with five of us, there were still leftovers. The few bites I had were delicious and heaping with toppings. Very tasty!I started with the blackened tuna bites and then got the Aloha Bowl while my wife got the Beach Bum tacos. The tuna was good but a bit overcooked for my taste, as I prefer then to be a bit pink in the middle. Just my preference. The Aloha bowl was decent, but nothing to write home about, as it was skilletted chicken with some rice and two pieces of pineapple. My wife's Beach Bum tacos looked amazing and she devoured them very quickly.Overall, a great place to go for food. Our server was very attentive, as I am a fish when it comes to water. She was on it with the refills, so kudos to her! I will be in my own for food tomorrow, so may return and try something else. Good work!
My husband and I went here for lunch. Our waitress Phoenix was very nice and accommodating. We got the wings for an appetizer. The wings were very good. My husband got the fish and chips for his meal. The fish was greasy and had too much breading. The hush puppies that came with it tasted stale. I had the key west burrito. The shrimp was over cooked and the rice was under cooked. The street corn that came with my meal looked delicious but lacked flavor. Needless to say, our meal as a whole was disappointing. I would be willing to give them another chance in the future.
Ok, so we came in for an early lunch, not busy, so we had excellent service.Blackened tuna bites were smashing!Seoul surfer tacos were excellent, brisket tacos were decent... no issue with serving size, but would prefer thinner taco shell. We'll try again, gaters and taters have us curious.
We stopped in because it looked like a cool place to eat at. Was rather disappointed. Sat in the bar area while we were their there was a total of 10 people who sat on the bar side. We ordered the queso dip and took about 30 min for it to finally to.come to the table. This place was not that busy for it to take a small dish of hot cheese and a basket of chips to take 30 min. We order our dinner and I got one of their bowls. It came with chicken, pineapple, rice, onions, and peppers. There was no peppers or onions. My husband got a salad that had avocado in it. It was not even a slice. We asked for a box when she finally came back to our table. Never got it. Never cleared our dishes that we were.done with but just took our glasses. Finally got to cash out and then finally got our box and dirty dishes cleared. For as slow as it was service should of been better. Seemed more interested in socializing than worrying about people she should of been taking care of. I work in the industry not that hard to give quality service. Wouldn't recommend going
Good and service were both great
My wife and I eat out at Smokin’ Southern Cantina more than any other sit down restaurant in Statesville. We order something different from the menu almost every time we go and we have never had anything that we didn’t like. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. The Churros are a delicious way to finish off your meal.
I rarely give a bad review and here's what happened. Eight of us walked in here after the first big spring event, Art Crawl, at 8:30 p.m. I personally was looking forward to Macho Nachos. They are sooo good. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait which is fine and two of us headed to the bar to get a drink while we waited. When we got to the bar and went to order one of the bartenders asked us "if we were waiting on a table or eating at the bar?". When we told him we were waiting on a table he said they could not serve us because they were too busy. That seemed a little odd since there were places open at the bar and tables open being cleaned but I know restaurants are short staffed. So I asked "are you saying we can't order two drinks and then move away from the bar?" "THAT'S WHAT I JUST SAID!" he said in a rude tone. So the two of us went back to our group of eight and took our name off the list and walked out. There was another group of four waiting for a table and overheard our conversation and said the same exact thing JUST happened to them as they were waiting for a table and looking for a drink. They ended up walking out right behind us. It seems odd to me since we were going to be seated in about 20 minutes and order the exact same drinks which would have to had been prepared at the exact same bar we were looking to get them from 20 minutes earlier. Which means they were going to be exactly the same busy whether we ordered it at the bar or at our table. The only way they're less busy is if we leave and don't order. So that's what they got. Either way it definitely could have been handled more politely if this is a policy of the restaurant.
First time visiting tonight. We came in at peak dinner time and were seated at the bar right away. They were busy but we were attended to quickly and food was out in great time. It seemed like they worked very well as a team. The food was fantastic. Lots of flavor in everything we tried.
My husband and I have been coming to Smokin Cantina for well over a year. When we first started coming, they had a refried bean and cheese dip on their menu that was delicious! Shortly after, they took the appetizer off their menu but everytime we would come in, they would let us order the appetizer which was great. Well upon our recent visit we had a new server who asked the manager if we could get the appetizer. The “manager,” Justin, proceeded to tell us we couldn’t get that appetizer which is fine. But when my husband told Justin we got the appetizer a few weeks ago during our last visit, he proceeded to tell us that appetizer has never been on their menu or served in their establishment and “if someone was doing that for you it wasn’t within the rules of the establishment.” The way Justin handled the situation, proceeding to argue with my husband about how they’ve “never had that,” pretty much making him and myself out as liars was unprofessional and uncalled for. This use to be our regular spot and had we not had an infant and toddler we would’ve got up and walked out but dealing with a hungry toddler is not desirable. We won’t be back. Mi Pueblo has better customer service then Smokin Cantina.Updating my review to add: I attempted to leave my feedback regarding our experience on the establishments Facebook page. Not only was it deleted but I was blocked… a lot can be said about an establishment that deletes negative or constructive feedback to only keep positive. Good thing for Google review, don’t trust their Facebook review!
Wow! Words cannot express how amazing my lunch was today!! I was served at the bar by Autumn who was super friendly and made me a delicious, perfectly balanced strawberry daiquiri. And for food I ordered the carne asada fries, which came out fresh and the presentation was on point! Thank you so much for making my day, and if you haven’t ate here before, come here ASAP! You will be amazed!
