Beyond disappointed, and I will not patronize this chain again. Around three-ish I attempted to order online for pickup which was not available for through the rest of the afternoon and evening. Unfortunately I did not review the menu online as I find sometimes it doesn't give accurate information on quantities, etc. I presume this may be based on the demand in different areas. Apparently if you purchase Chicken only you pay the same price as if you ordered Hush Puppies with it. I went inside to place an order. I explained to the cashier that I am not from the area, never been to a Smithfield's Chicken & BBQ before and wanted to order chicken only, no sides. Mid-order the cashiers were swapped out. Apparently it was necessary for her to relocate to the drive-thru before completing the order with me. I ordered 8 pieces of Chicken and received the Chicken and a huge bag of Hush Puppies. I went back to the counter to inquire why I had them and explained I wasn't aware I was getting Hush Puppies. I then asked to swap them out for fries. (My partner seems uncomfortable when I "speak up" about something not to my standards or liking.) I do not care for Hush Puppies and no one with me is going to eat them. The woman I spoke with graciously swapped them for a huge bag of French Fries. I called back to the location asking the cost of 8 pieces of Chicken ONLY, NO SIDES and was advised "$17.99 plus tax because all Chicken comes with Hush Puppies." Not sure why NO ONE communicated this to me while I was inside Smithfield's Chicken speaking with humans. NO ONE SAID THISE EXACT WORDS. Clearly no meeting of the minds here. Takeaway - if you want Chicken without any sides this is not your place. That said, the dining area has an open layout and the location was clean. I liked the signage for drive-thru. It is awesome that there is a couple of EV spaces (Electric Vehicle) with chargers. I was too livid to even eat so the chicken is in the mini-fridge.
Really good food. Seems like the portions have gotten smaller though. Service is always good inside, however the service is not as great in the drive thru. The lady there seems like she could care less about the customer.
Love their combo plate and chicken tenders. Such friendly service at this location. We stopped here to visiting friends for lunch and once they heard we were from NY they brought us out out a hat to take home! Really great location.
The chicken strip and fries are so good I usually take a 5 mile detour from my trip from FL to VA to enjoy their food. Chicken fingers with NC BBQ sauce is a new experience I plan to repeat.
This is our favorite BBQ! The manager and staff were super helpful and willing to help with our large take out order with no bad attitude or long wait. Highly recommend!!
Extremely busy, only one table empty, only one employee for entire dining room.People lined up all the way to the door waiting to order. Cars wrapped around the building outside. Had to wait for a parking space to become available to park. Really need more employees. Still, employees are very nice and pleasant even though being worked so hard. This was on a Thursday around 1:30 pm
I’ve been eating at Smithfield’s for years and never had a complaint until tonight. I ordered a dark chicken plate with potato salad and cole slaw. The potato salad was white when it normally has more yellow coloring. I know that it’s made with mayo but it normally don’t taste like straight mayo and the cole slaw wasn’t cut up at all manager said it supposed to taste like mayo and they meant to not cut up the cole slaw so it don’t get watery
Did not like at all and threw my sandwich away, I’m used to finely chopped Barbecue with a particular type of coleslaw. This sandwich had hard large chucks of coleslaw and just was not to my liking, however restaurant was clean and many people dining. Friendly staff and very welcoming. This was my experience hope you enjoy!
Order a bbq plate. I arrived back a work 5 min later, ffries cold, hushpuppies hard, bbq not fresh and potatoe salad was not fresh.
We were in town for a baseball tournament and stopped here late one night after our games. Elaine was the bomb! She was working the register, serving the food and taking care of the dining room by herself. She made sure everyone had FRESH food and drinks were topped off. She is amazing! The food was awesome as well. We will definitely be back.
