I love sushi and the quality of the sushi is poor at this establishment. I usually get basic rolls such as spicy tuna, Philly, California and so on. I always judge a place by their spicy tuna roll and at Ichiban it was like mush. I don’t know why the texture was so off putting but it ripped my stomach apart and I didn’t even finish the meal. My husband eats what ever I don’t finish and he wouldn’t even eat it. I was really disappointed that the quality of the sushi was not better. I suppose I will keep driving out of town unless there’s a major quality improvement.
Courteous and quick service, very very casual place, was hoping for a little more upscale for being downtown. Felt like eating at a medium level Chinese restaurant.Offers sushi varieties, bento boxes, soups and 1 type of beer (Sapporo). Prices are standard for sushi, too pricey for the cheap ambiance.Raw sushi are ok, low quality fish grade. The sushi rice is decent, needs to still make it right. To me any sushi restaurant is measured by their simplest basic roll: spicy tuna roll, and here please AVOID it. The spicy tuna roll and any rolls with it on it are awful, the tuna used has the weirdest consistency -purée/smashed, and the color is weird…doesn’t even taste like tuna. Wondering if it is another fish and it is colored?Go on the safe side and order any cooked/tempura shrimp or crab rolls (not really traditional sushi, but you won’t be disappointed as with the other rolls. The sushi chef still needs to improve the texture of the rolls created: all raw rolls are just too smooshed, like eating guacamole. Even the Basic rainbow roll was so disappointing. The wasabi needs to be better too. At least there is a place to fix your sushi crave in town. Will keep going to my favorite spots 40 min drive away. Pic below is of spicy tuna roll.
It is nice to have finally have a good sushi place in Sanford. While Ichiban does not have the most creative menu, everything they do serve is of good quality. Service is excellent and fast. They turn over tables quite quickly.
Excellent customer service... the phone representative took special care to separate sushi based on allergies.
i got take out and everything was perfect! it’s finally nice to have a place with real sushi near by! only complaint is the tuna in my spicy tuna roll was a little off putting i think it was tuna overload! but other than that everything was soo good.

Awesome food! I was exploring a new town and say this hidden gem and wanted to give it a chance and it didn’t disappoint. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the veggies veggies were amazing as well. If I move to Sanford, I’m definitely becoming a regular.
Delicious and beautiful sushiWe went around 4:30 pm since we knew there would be a wait later being a Saturday. Our food arrived quickly and our service was on point.
Food was amazing. Came in on a Saturday at lunch time and was seated right away. The cost is efficient for the amount of food you get. The shrimp fried rice can feed 2 people and the California rolls are a decent size. The place was clean and the decor is welcoming. The ONLY complaint was that one of the servers was really judgemental and kind of rude, she could have just had a bad day or what ever. All in all amazing place and will definitely one here to eat again.
I got an order to go and did not have to wait long. That being said, the food was just okay. I ordered 2 rolls and some sashimi. If the price was lower, I would have given it 4 stars but considering the cost was $40 while for an extra $10 I could have gotten some absolutely amazing sushi in Raleigh, it just wasn't worth it. I'll probably go back and just get some of the cheaper rolls which seem worth the price but nothing fancier than that.
