Everyone was professional. Manager was extremely helpful. Service was fast. Everything was clean and most of all the food was delicious!
First time and it was decent. I could use more vinegar on bbq, chicken was tasty, hushpuppies okay. I didn't like that the chicken is in a box that can be vented but they weren't punched out so the chicken sweats. Hushpuppies are put on top of bbq so they end up soggy. Bbq is sitting in liquid and not properly drained. I would still go back.
For years I enjoyed the sweet tea at Smithfield's. Then I became a Type 2 Diabetic and had to switch to the unsweet tea (with sweetener). There is a disconnection between sweet & unsweet. The unsweet tea reminded me of cigarette ashes that have been put in water. Doesn't matter how much sweetener you add, it is still going to taste like cigarette ashes. That didn't happen today! The unsweet tea was close enough to having a tea flavor, that adding sweetener made it relatively passable. But, I know I've liked the hushpuppies in past visits, but today they were way too "shortbread" for me, which gave them a grainy/sandy texture. I think it is when you use a lot of Crisco, and no flour. The flavor of the potato salad and coleslaw was good, but the amount of each side was on the low side. I paid a little over $16 for an unsweet tea and a Combo Dark (chicken & BBQ for about a dollar less than white meat chicken). I had $15 out to pay and when the clerk said $16+ I had to fumble for more. The Economy... the Recession.
Tea, fries, and barbecue sandwich with slaw are PERFECT. This store is ALWAYS outstanding....drive-thru is fast and the employees are professional.
This was my first visit to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q, so I tried both the chicken and BBQ. It was absolutely delicious, my patronage was very welcomed, and the next time that I’m in Rocky Mount, North Carolina I will stop by Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q for a second round of their amazing hospitality, pleasant atmosphere, and absolutely delicious food!

If I could rate this place with 0 stars I would. DO NOT ORDER USING DOORDASH. You will not receive all of your food. Smithfields will do nothing to correct THEIR errors. They lackcluster fulfill your order and then wipe their hands clean claiming they are the third party and have you contact Doordash. The staff is useless in resolving their mistakes.
If you are in North Carolina, there is no better place to get East Carolina BBQ (vinegary) sandwiches or chicken and biscuits.It's close to US-64 and I-95 and easily seen from the highway. There's plenty of parking.
After visiting Rocky Mount Toyota for a oil change, I had to visit my favorite restaurant. I ordered a tail gate special, plus buy one get one free Brunswick stew. I live 30 min away. When we got home the Brunswick stew was watered down. When I called the manager on duty. She state the health inspector just left. the report said it was to much water in it. A couple of days later I returned, my Stew was replaced. Smithfield Chicken and Bbq is the best. Things do happen.
Good food. Great staff, they did everything they could to accommodate our larger then average group. Checked on us frequently. Would definitely recommend.
