The service was excellent!
I took my daughter for her first experience of real ramen and it didn't disappoint. Sage was real friendly and the food was excellent. We did go early on a weekday so my noise level review may not be accurate for dinnertime and the weekends. But the overall review experience was really nice. Very pleasant staff and really, really good ramen!

Always a consistently good bet. Some items feel overpriced. Try Dashi in Durham for a better ambiance.

Our first visit to tonbow in the fall of 2021 left us speechless. The food was amazing as was the experience and value. Our second trip to Raleigh, in July 2022, a trip to Tonbow was high on our list of priorities. The food was okay but lacked that wow factor we had the first time. Iâm hoping it was just an off night. TIP: ask to sit upstairs itâs a way better vibe up there.
We needed a new ramen spot since our regular spot is a bit of a drive and this turned out to hit all the right notes. First off, the ramen is exceptional. Everything about it from the options, flavor, portions and price was awesome. Buns and the Japanese fried chicken were also on point, as were the small plates and drinks. We enjoyed everything except for some parts of the service we had. We had 2 servers, one that was very delayed, casual and didn't really step up till the other server was obviously outdoing the original service we had received. Granted it was a slow night in the mid week, so I get it but it's the only reason for the docked star. We'll be back to try and fill in that last star with another attempt as this place certainly deserves it.

Unfortunately, the restaurant did not have enough staff to serve the tables they had seated. We waited for 30 minutes after being seated and never got service. We departed before we ordered or interacted with the overwhelmed staff.
