I was buying a $100 copy of Portishead's Dummy at Honky Dory and I asked the young lady working, "What's good to eat around here?" She says she just came from Cardinal Bar because she "craves" their hot dogs. I say "you're a real Patty Duke." I then look around the room for any acknowledging gesture... nothing.Long story short, I ordered these dogs and loved them all! I now crave them too.I recommend... onions, mustard, chili. Top dog, pictured.

First time there was a great experience. So when we visited Raleigh again it was a must hit. Completely disappointed the second go around . Customer service was terrible . The woman behind the bar couldn't have been any ruder. This place is off my list of places to visit for good. Lost a big group of big spenders and good tippers. Best of luck to ya!
The Cardinal Bar is undeniably within the upper echelon of experiences in downtown Raleigh. If you are traveling or a local, you MUST visit this wonderful establishment. Have one of the friendly and professional bar staff pour a cold drink from their wonderful selection, play your favorite track on the jukebox, and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are about to enjoy a WORLD CLASS hotdog.

Ever go to a place that seems really cool but the staff treats the customers as a total annoyance? Yeah, that's The Cardinal. Damn good dogs, but not worth the unwelcome feeling that's consistent with every visit. I actively tell people to stay away from this place. Such wasted potential.
Nice,low keyed and great! Great place to unwind after work. Drinks were delish. Went there with my daughter for her after work cocktail. Didn't get a hotdog this time, but they are good.

Nice little bar with good vibe, drinks and hot dogs. Just wish you had better bike parking.
