Every tapa and drink we tried was excellent. The sliders, pad thai, tacos, dumplings and margaritas. Highly recommend
My wife and I have always been fans of Taste for dinner but recently went for a Saturday morning brunch. We have tried brunch all over the Triangle and many are excellent (Croquette, Parkside, etc..) but non as good as we had this past weekend at Taste on Bernard. The staff (Caroline and everyone else) are also amazing.
What a find this little gem is! We can't understand why it wasn't overflowing with patrons but can only surmise it's the location. You have to know its there. We had four small plates between the 2 ofus with wine, just the perfectamount of food and so delicious! We had the hanger steak with cremini mushrooms, onion and a delicious sauce, pistachio encrusted ahi tuna with Avacado, the arugula salad and bruchetta with feta. It was all perfectly prepared and amazing flavors. Loved it!
We went for brunch. 5 star ambience. 5 star service. 5 star bloody Mary. The drinks were made well and the food is quite delicious. I had the shrimp and grits. The grits are the best I've ever had, hands down. I live in Virginia Beach or I would be a regular.
Food was amazing. Staff is awesome! Just a all around great establishment. Came with me my fiancée and friends. Made us feel right at home. Definitely will be a spot we frequent. ?
Taste .... I can dig it !From the front you dont know what you're getting into ... but as soon as you open the door its like a awesome surprise ... kinda cool like secret bookshelf door going into a secret room cool ...You walk into a warm trendy cozy restaurant with with an open kitchen concept and long bar.The front seating area by the dark tinted windows are low top tables...Behind the half wall are the high top tables and bar seating ...I definitely like the high top seating area.So Samantha took care of the table and she was good .. nice and friendly and gave excellent suggestions on the menu items and even picked wisely on "hey surprise me with a dessert of your picking " and Samantha did well lolDefinitely come early to beat the dinner rush which started tonight around 6pm (sat night )Definitely try everything on the menu .. top portion of the menu is "Tastes" take on tapas style dishes and the bottom few items are larger entree dishes .The seared pistachio crusted Ahi Tuna was delicious.. its thinly sliced tuna on a bed of arugula and crusted with pistachios with a drizzle of wasabi aioli and a small cup of soy for dipping ...Definitely dip into the soy lightly and than drag the piece of ahi along with arugula in the wasabi aioli and enjoy ... it was amazing .Next up was the bruschetta with feta .. definitely delicious and wish there was a few more slices of baguette also another amazing dish .Tuna truffle was another delicious dish... it was chunks of tuna on a bed of pickle radish, fried shallots, with a truffle garlic ponzu and topped with masago.. couldve used a lil bit more of the truffle garlic ponzu and a light drizzle of soy ... dish was excellent but couldve used that extra ummmphhhThe crabcakes were delicious but being from the DC area and spending my weekends on the Eastern Shores of MD ... these were skeptical ... they definitely arent your typical MD crabcakes .. these were different.. it was a mix of crab, diced sweet peppers and another veggie in there... it wasnt what I was used to for a crabcake but it was not bad .. it was pan fried and served on a bed of succotash. The chicken pad thai was also different and not what I'm used to but it wasnt bad .. it was very saucy and more on the sweet side ... I'm used to more of the dryer peanuty pad thai, but this wasnt bad ... definitely ask for extra sambal for extra spiceTo finish off the night... Samatha brought out the brulee cheesecake ... it was amazing ... couldn't pinpoint what the crust was made of ... definitely have to ask what it is next time I'm there... wasnt your typical gram crust .. it had almost an almond flour short bread cookie crust or something similar to that..Overall taste is a hidden gem in Raleigh definitely will be back !
Probably my favorite restaurant in Raleigh because it checks all the boxes for service, ambiance, food, and drinks. It’s relatively small which makes it the perfect intimate date spot. The menu changes, but the crab cakes and sliders are always a favorite (seriously, get the crab cakes!!) I always finish my meal with their coffee martini.
Friends, who are regulars, took my family to this wonderful establishment. The small plates style is always fun since you get to have more than one dish. Everyone loved their food. My drunken noodles and grouper dishes were fantastic and my son loved the chocolate pyramid desert. Unfortunately I didn’t have any room for dessert after eating both my plates and some of my wife’s. The server was also very good and nice. Highly recommend this place for your next nice dinner.
Brunch was fantastic. Had the sliders and the drunken noodles. Pomegranate mimosas were delicious and the atmosphere is super chill. Great lazy morning brunch spot.
I love this hidden gem. The food, drinks and Stagg are great. Definitely give it a go you won't be sorry. My fav is the PAD Thai and sprint rolls.
