I have to wonder if the ‘Punjabi’ negative reviews are coming from folks related to another nearby Indian restaurant. I’m Indian too and the food here is excellent. My wife and I have been coming here for many years and one thing remains the same - it’s delicious. It’s very difficult for restaurants to maintain such a good standard over many years but they do it and we reward them with our business. Try them out and see for yourself.
Worst experience ever! We are Punjabi and know how the flavor and food should taste. They charged for onions and green peppers which is ridiculous as it is complementary any place else. We ordered saag paneer, malai kofta, two parantha, paneer kulcha & 1 mango lassi & they gave us rice. Everything listed was inedible. We traveled from Saint George, SC with the anticipation of a good meal. The reviews on here are inaccurate! There so called “Indian Spicy” killed any flavor, was peculiar and not something a native would enjoy. The mango lassi was not made properly. I discourage anyone to ever order the malai kofta as it felt like a made up recipe by the cook… it didn’t look nor taste correct and it tasted burnt, nutty. There was not enough paneer in the saag & the meal was so expensive nearly $70 for such garage! I do not recommend it was all wrong so no stars!
Our favorite Indian restaurant in Raleigh and a destination when we're on the north side of town at a mealtime. The lamb samosas are delicious. Haven't had a bad dish.
Best Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry that I've had anywhere! Owners are very nice and sweet. We've been going f8or years and drive way out of our way because it's sooo tasty. Thank you for all you do!
Way better food than the "Royal" place! If you're looking for a more authentic ambience, maybe go to the other place. But if you're looking for better food and more pleasant service, Taj Mahal easily wins! We had 5 varieties of bread a few apps and an entree, all were exquisite!!
The worst food! The worst customer service! Charged us $3 for a few pieces of cut onion. Way over priced! See the picture of what is supposed to be a goat biryani.
Most reviews of eatery were based on their non-vegetarian foods. I am vegetarian. When I visit the places based on the reviews & order veggie dishes, It is not as expected. I wright my opinions based on vegetarian foods I tried.. Though, the most vegetarians are good cook, they are fond of eating out too. Vegetarian food is in good demand & it's important for the restaurants to make good vegetarian dishes to fulfill demands.Let's talk about Taj Mahal restaurant. This restaurant is in Wake forest, close to TJ max shopping complex. Before pandemic, we use to eat at Taj Mahal quite often. Though this is a small restaurant, it serves both types of food. Their vegetarian dishes were equally enjoyable. ButRecently when I went their again, I was disappointed, with the food and service. Though there were only handful of clients, the service was awful. The server was over exhausted, did not know what was she doing. and food did not taste as good as before. I know, all businesses are having trouble with help. But in food industry, reopening the businesses after long time, with less help doesn't work. It's better to open for less hours to maintain the standerd and have satisfied clients visits repeatedly than working long hours 7 days a week with less help. Better to save the image.
This is the spot for us! We've been going for 5+ years now and love it. We eat a variety of their vegetarian dishes and our favorites change often. I am currently in love with the Matar Paneer! We always get the mint chutney which is great on everything. Their hot is hot btw!
Very good food! We've had a hard time finding decent Indian food since we've been here and were very happy with our experience. This was recommended by someone in a local plant-based group and we tried it out for Thanksgiving. While none of their items are marked vegan, they have a separate vegetarian section where most items are either already vegan or can be altered to accommodate a plant-based diet. While the menu options for these want extremely extensive, it's one of the most inclusive menus I've seen since moving to the Raleigh-Durham area.We tried a few different items, and our favorites were the dal tadka, chickpea masala and the eggplant. Mushroom curry was good to. I don't there I tried anything I didn't like. We'll definitely be coming back!
This place is absolutely amazing! You cannot find a more authentic place. Some hella good grubba dub!
