What a wonderful restaurant. Fabulous food and service. Wonderful drinks. The Miso soup is excellent and the Alaskan roll was amazing. We will definitely be back.
I LOVE their dragon roll???.. But very yummy sushi.... And the hibachi was not bad either .. Mango Mojito highly recommend
Rarely do I post any reviews anymore because everyone's opinion is subjective. But this review is the right thing to do. My husband and i were excited to find an upscale sushi restaurant next to our hotel when we visited Raleigh last weekend. We should've paid more attention to the lack of patrons on a Friday evening, but instead were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately, with a very nice young main waiting on us. Midway through our meal, my husband pushed his chair back from the table to make room for me to get up to use the restroom. That was when he saw two cockroaches at his feet. He stepped on one, while the second roach got away. We immediately asked for the manager. To our dismay, the manager was not the least bit surprised, informing us that the restaurant had just been exterminated the night before, so a few bugs were to be expected! I was beside myself, as I am in the hospitality industry and would never have used that excuse on a guest, much less insist that their meal was fine.. I was literally sick to my stomach, and cannot stress enough that the health and wellbeing of their guests, as well as the cleanliness of this restaurant, should be more important to the manager and ownership than was demonstrated to us last Friday night. There are so many amazing restaurants in midtown Raleigh, and I would hate for a new visitor to the area to judge the Raleigh food scene based on an unsanitary and inhospitable experience at ShabaShabu on Wake Forest Road.
My server, Prince, was trying his best and very hospitable. The food was not edible. Old rice, warm fish (assuming it’s bc they leave it in this window) even the pickled ginger was dusty tasting. And this doesn’t matter much but there were many spelling errors on their menu, making it hard to read. I only came here because I was craving sushi and needed to visit Trader Joe’s. However it was cheap. I guess you get what you pay for.
I really liked my experience here. The food was incredible and so tasty. My waiter was very polite and pleasant. I will be back.
Beautiful decorations inside, very relaxing. We were not at all impressed with the sushi, the presentation was excellent but the fish had no taste at all. The sweet potato roll was very good, my favorite. Our waiter disappeared and we had to get help to pay our bill which had a mistake.
Did not see any actual shabu shabu hot pot on the menu. But lunch was tasty. Never had a better softshell crab roll. And the light tempora fry on the specialty roll was very good.
Their Miso soup is so good! My kids love it and love the sushi too! Great menu for dishes other than sushi.
Atmosphere was great and the food was even better! We had an amazing waiter who claimed it was only his 2nd day. He did an awesome job handling a table of 8 women. I personally had the sushi but our table had a variety of dishes. Drinks, entrees, and desserts were all amazing!
Super friendly employees. Food was really fresh and good. There area lot of options. Most entrees can be substituted with tofu if you don't eat meat. Definitely get the coconut cake for dessert - it was AMAZING !!
