Second Empire is a unique restaurant experience in a breathtaking historic house built in 1879. The presentation, quality of the food, and the best wait staff awaits you. I always enjoy the fine dining this restaurant offers!!!
Excellent food wonderful service. Beautiful atmosphere
After having a sub-par experience at a "steakhouse" the night before, it was refreshing to be served exactly what I ordered and how I ordered it. My steak was done to perfection, my calamari was tender and my fellow diners enjoyed their food as well.Bonus points are being given as well, because the first question the waiter asked was if there were any food allergies and restrictions. And he worked with the ones I told him I had. Not only did he give me other options I could sub out instead of the items that would make me I'll, but he made it seem effortless. Kudos to Matt and Oliver for taking such good care of us all.
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere! It’s our favorite place to celebrate a special occasion! ❤️
Had some really good food at Second Empire, specifically the trout. Unfortunately, the waiter spilled wine all over my outfit during dinner (which was for business) as well my dinner. Disappointing experience.
We hadn't been back here for years and had remembered the ambiance as impressive and the food as merely good. But this time both were outstanding. We shared the green salad and the calamari for starters, had a bottle of Albariño, and my husband had the paella and I had the trout for mains. We shared the chocolate souffle for dessert, which was entirely unnecessary but delicious. This time the food fit the wonderful environment of the Dodd-Hinsley house.
Our first time at Second Empire. Food was delicious! Our server, Josh, was well informed and the perfect amount of attentive. All staff we interacted with were professional and courteous. It was an enjoyable time and we will definitely come back.
Top notch service, superb food and presentation, comfortable seating. Will definitely go there again soon! The staff makes you feel like you're their only customer!
We just loved our dinner at Second Empire. We started and shared the leek and broccoli soup and the foie gras, both were delicious. We had a bottle of Cotes du Rhone to enjoy with our meal. My husband had the filet mignon and I ordered the seafood paella. Both were cooked to perfection. We shared the chocolate souffle for dessert. A perfect end to a perfect meal. Be sure to arrive early and have a cocktail at the bar downstairs. The history and architecture is just spectacular! Wyatt our server was there for our every need. We will definitely be back!
Our grandson is headed to the Culinary Institute of America this fall but has never spent any time observing a commercial kitchen, much less a true fine dining restaurant kitchen where everything is cooked to order. Second Empire's Chef's Table experience where your table is set up in the kitchen so you can watch the food prep, talk to the chefs, the menu and wine is preselected by the Chef was a fabulous experience for all of us. It was perfect. I got an opportunity to visit the house when it was being renovated in the mid-90's and have eaten there a number of times. I didn't realize the Executive Chef, Daniel Schurr, has been there since they opened in 1997. No wonder the consistency is amazing. Daniel also graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and cooked at the Four Seasons. My grandson smiled for over three hours - we all did. Not bad for three generations sitting down for dinner.
