Over the weekend I stayed at this place and this hotel is my favorite place to stay when I am around Raleigh especially summer time. Hotel swimming pool is not too big, but it is pretty good size to hang out. Crabtree valley mall is across from the hotel so it is very convenient to find some restaurants without driving.
I concur with a few of the other reviews that the rooms were a bit small and poorly lit. Gym was pretty decent, no issues with housekeeping, although a few more towels/washcloths would have been nice. Also appreciated the location and parking. That said, I have three criticisms:1. I arrived very late and the parking lot was extremely dark. The nearest door was locked but an employee happened to be walking by so I asked if I could get to the front desk from there. He told me “no” and suggested I walk around to the front. I had two suitcases and was wearing a walking boot due to a torn ligament but walked around the hotel and up a flight of steps (no ramp) and when I got to the front desk, guess who was standing there. You can absolutely get to the desk from the parking lot entrance. He just decided not to let me in.2. When I went to check in, systems were down so I had to check in on paper. They asked me to WRITE my CREDIT CARD NUMBERS on a sheet of PAPER! I don’t blame the desk workers but as an information security professional, my jaw about hit the floor. You should NEVER instruct your employees to do such a thing.3. They still, in 2022, charge 10-12 dollars a day for Wi-Fi. Nickel and diming for standard amenities makes it seem like a 2 star hotel or spirit airlines. That’s about as low class as charging for towels.
Rooms not well insulated from sound, at least on the 6th floor. Hallways on that floor were about 85+ degrees which made the room extremely humid with the AC on. Left an item in the room, called from airport before checking out on my phone to have someone get the item and call me back when item was secured. Housekeeping 'couldn't locate items in the room'. No satisfied. The concierge lounge people were awesome, however.
Overall I wasn't very satisfied with this hotel. The rooms are very small and dimly lit. The TVs reset their volume whenever you turn them on so they start blasting this loud music. My shower door wouldn't close all the way so it kept getting water all over the bathroom floor. They do not even serve a continental breakfast. The hotel is in a good location right across the street from a nice mall. However, they don't even have a sidewalk leading from the hotel to the road, so I had to walk in the dirt ?.
The stay was everything you could ask for. The room was spacious and clean. The property had lots of places inside and out to just sit and relaxe. But what i was most expressed with was the gentleman that greeted me at the front desk. His name was Boone. He was extremely pleasant with a big smile. He checked me in and called back down to order lunch as the restaurant was just opening and I couldn't get them by phone. I called the front desk and Boone took my order and walked it over to them.I would definitely reccomend and visit again.Plus you can walk right across the street to mall and great restaurants.
This was my first time staying here. We had a 3 day business conference. It is a newer or newly renovated property. Because our conference setting provided food and beverages, I didn't get to try their redtaurant but the bar is well stcked and the service is great. The rooms are fresh and eventhough I couldn't get the type of room I am accustomed to (the NY Rangers were staying there for their match with the Hurricanes!) I was happy with the room nonetheless. Nice large shower always beats a bath tub!
This Marriott qualified for 1 1/2 stars, or 2 if it was a Days Inn. Worst Marriott ever (and not cheap, either!). "Sorry, no housekeeping." Then, the mural in the room was duct-taped to the wall. Seriously! And the sheets did not fit the bed. They, along with the mattress pad, pulled off while I was just lying there. I had to make my own bed --- twice! So they moved me to another room. A downgrade from a king to a double. (How about an upgrade, instead?)In both rooms, the clock was on the wrong time. If that was the only problem, so what? But it was indicative of the poor housekeeping and poor training.Sorry, Marriott. Fix this hotel's problems or pull the flag. This is an embarrassment.
This has been a miserable experience. I know of nowhere else that has absolutely no amenities whatsoever. My room is unchanged since Tuesday, now being Saturday. There are no towels, sheets, etc. if I had known this was a convention hotel I would have never selected it.
Smallest rooms I've ever seen in a Marriott, felt more like a holiday inn with better mattresses. Cheap curtains that don't open all the way, window doesn't open at all, very little lighting options inside the room. Overall this place needs some major adjustments when it comes to the rooms, not bad for a one or two night stay I guess. Only two towels placed in our room for a 5 night stay(there are two of us) and apparently you have to give 24hrs for cleaning services.
Had a rather disappointing stay. Usually Marriott hotels are MUCH better than the typical hotel but this one in particular does not stand up to its name. When we got into the room it was not clean (lots of dust on everything and the floors were not vacuumed or mopped) and there was somebody's elses half eaten cheesecake in the refrigerator!!!!!!Management has to tell housekeeping to do a better job at cleaning the rooms! This is unacceptable! Last time I checked this wasn't a Days Inn.Other than the room being dirty, we had a hard time sleeping because you could hear the other rooms opening and closing their doors throughout the night. I understand that its a hotel and it'll be active but I've had never had an experience where I can hear doors opening and closing so loudly before at a Marriott (usally the doors keep the sound out better).Overall the Hotel has a nice atmosphere but If you expect to arrive to a clean room...think again.Unfortunately this stay for us was equivalent to a lower grade hotel.
