The food lacks flavor the rice is mushy. Honestly the chicken doesn’t taste clean. And the service leaves something to be desired.
The food was decent but DRY, if they provided more sauce then it could have been better. The mac n cheese was a no for me, it was sweet & had a burnt taste too it, I think they use evaporated milk ??. Anyway, for the amount I paid, I feel that the portions were skimpy (except with they rice, the give you way too much…I guess to compensate for the lack thereof the main dish). The customer service was not the best, I had to wait 20 additional mins for my food (I was told my food would be ready in 35 mins). The owner said she would give me a discount for the inconvenience but she didn’t end up giving me one, no biggie. I should have listened to the reviews, I won’t be back.
Friendly staff. Great chicken. Sometimes some of the food can be better than others or may not always taste the same/have consistency. Their macaroni used to be my favorite, but hasn’t stated the same in awhile since. Jamaica Bites in Clayton has the best tasting Macaroni and food that will knock you out of your seat. Again this not it diminish this location, their service, or food. The staff seems friendly and it would be great if there could be more consistency with the food and going back to tasting how it used to.
Yesterday, I bought over $230.00 meals from the MUMs restaurant. I bought six-packs of roast breadfruit peeled and allowed the breadfruit to defrost naturally in the package. The breadfruit was so slimy; I called Jamaica to ask my sister-in-law if this seemed normal. Because even though I know ripe breadfruit can be a little sticky, this slim was bacteria slimy. I called the store and notified them. I was told someone would call me back. No one called me, so I took it here. I am told by the so-called manager, "no return. Don't you see the sign". Which I honestly did not. If you purchase items at a restaurant or even supermarket, if it is rotten or spoiled, and you bring it to their attention, they will refund you anywhere in America. This is not like I ordered stew chicken, got curry chicken, then left the building, and now return wanting the stew chicken to seek a refund or an exchange. This is why black people's businesses cannot prosper because they don't treat their customers. It is my fault because it did not even have an expiration date on the bag to indicate spoilage timeframe or when it was ever prepared or made. The lady I dealt with was apologizing for the issue. You would think the manager would be grateful she was. She told the girl no need to apologize and told her the sign said no refund. Never again buy anything from them.
Most everything I've tried from them tastes authentic and reminds me of home. I appreciate that they don't have a fusion menu like other places that try to appease to Americans. You can get a good amount of food for a descent price. Also, they're the only Jamaican restaurant in the area that I see serves full breakfast. I don't count Golden Krust since they're a chain and can be more costly.
Stop by for some breakfast and it was so delicious. I’ll definitely stop when in town again.
Customer Service is awesome!!!! Oxtails are always tender and the rice . This restaurant is far better than Lee's Kitchen, especially when it comes to Oxtails and Custom Service. The best Jamaican Restaurant in Raleigh thus far.Btw, Lee's Kitchen Oxtails on average are hard
I usually get jerk chicken from here and it's okay. It's a little bit dry like it's overcooked and it's always chopped up and bony but it's okay. I wanted to try something different so I got the brown stew chicken, for reference I'm West indian, born and raised in a Caribbean culture from Trinidad and tobago. I've had brown stew chicken from restaurants I know how to make my own stew chicken. There's two chicken was extremely spicy, Stew was supposed to have a good flavor with a little bit of sweetness, it was extremely spicy and then they chopped up the meat so much that it was nothing but bones. It's like they give me every bone that they have. No sah
Went to grab my pickup order this afternoon that I called in prior, and when the server was In the middle of grabbing my food from behind the counter and placing it in the box, another customer comes up and asked for food while I’m being served…and instead of asking the customer to wait she proceeded to put my half full container of food down, and starts filling up one for him.I don’t mind waiting, but if a customer is already being served, you generally finish serving them first before helping another customer
The beef patties are so flaky and good. I hate when they run out . The jerk chicken is amazing along with other menu items.
