The curry chicken and Mac & cheese were delicious. The mixed veggies wasn't too bad, just thought it was missing something. Overall, the food was still good.
Jerk Chicken & Rice and Peas were good but my dessert ehhh not so much. I was excited to taste the banana pudding or so I thought it was banana pudding but instead I bit into crunchy hard egg shell banana pudding! There were pieces of egg shell throughout the banana pudding. I will not be eating from here again.
The food is good here! I love the curry chicken and oxtails. The mac and cheese is good. The greens are good most times. Sweet potatoes are really good. The plantains are not cooked properly to me ever. Definitely still one of my go to spots in the area though when I feel like I need my Jamaican fix?
I've been coming to this restaurant for years and I came here last night to get dinner for me and my significant other. I ordered the fried chicken wing dinner and ordered him the oxtail dinner. A regretful decision. They've gone way up on their price for the oxtail dinner. It is now $19.99, when it used to be $15.99. This is the amount of fat on the oxtails. There was literally more fat than meat! The green beans were overcooked. My fried chicken was fried well, however, it was so bland! I don't know what has happened, but I don't like wasting money. The oxtail dinner (comes with two sides) and an extra side was over $25.00 alone.
We patronize this establishment at least twice a month. We ordered an oxtail dinner to supplement our meal for the evening Upon examination once we arrived home we discovered excessive fat on the oxtails. We returned with the meal and after talking with two so called managers, they were unwilling to CORRECT THIER WRONG by providing us with a simple side of oxtails. This meal costs us $22.00. Obviously these were not true managers, because of the lack of customer service. They said something should have been said when the oxtails were being put in the container. Well, it's hard to tell how much fat there is when they are covered with gravy. By the way this cost us $22.00. Needless to say we will no longer patronize this establishment with it's fatty oxtails and poor customer service. Did I say we paid $22.00 for this!
Go to golden Krust. This place is trash. Sometimes the food can be decent or it will fall short. If you don’t mind spending your money on inconsistency visit lees. Service is trash. Why they take online orders is beyond me. The owner needs to understand the wait time is long bc they don’t have a flow in place. I watched an employee walk outside to king chef with his gloves on and walked right back into lees with the same gloves still on! Not once did he take them off. I don’t see this place lasting much longer.
Since I discovered Lee's Kitchen in 2010/2011; it has been a worthwhile experience. Recommended to all who want to spoil themselves a lot with Jamaican Cuisine - with some touch of class!
I decided to give Jamaican restaurants another chance even though there are many bad reviews (it seems like generally they have gone down in quality with covid and all of that going on). I walked in attempting to get the lunch special which is 14.99 and includes two types of meat and two sides. I had a hard time understanding the cashier and when I asked for two sides said it would be extra. As a result I got one side and continued to check out. My total was 20 dollars. While I wouldn't mind paying 20 dollars for good quality, I do mind paying it when I'm getting 3 small pieces of meat. At the same time I'm not sure how I ended up paying more for less food than I should have gotten. I hope the owners of this place realize eventually that providing bad service at a higher price will only further hinder the stores performance. Not sure if my case was a deliberate action but I think it's safe to say I won't be returning to this place. I get that retail/restaurants is a rough job post pandemic but I don't think it is too much to expect not to be charged extra for absolutely no reason.
Again and again they have let me down. On multiple occasions we have attempted to call in our order prior to driving 40 minutes to this location on Capital Blvd. We also attempt to call so we won't get to the door to be told we don't have oxtails or curry goat or collard greens or anything else on their menu. How can each Saturday or Sunday they run out in broad daylight. Do they not prepare for the expected crowd? It's very disappointing to see a black owned company lack customer service or consistently be unprepared with their food. Are they not cooking enough or properly measuring the proportions? I remember when we were first introduced to Lee's kitchen 8 years ago they were humble and always had what we needed. I guess Golden Crust or another Jamaican spot will earn our dollars ? ? ? SMH!!!
I don't know what happened to y'all but I'm very disappointed! I never got a small portion of a full rack of ribs! I know understand the cost of food going up but so did your prices. Paying more for food with less portions is not the business. I know it don't matter to y'all but will no support no more. Bring back the old Lee's Kitchen!
