My family and I decided to stop in and get dinner while visiting the Raleigh area. I wanted to support a black owned restaurant. We were not disappointed. The place was packed and there was a bit of a wait between ordering and getting our food but it wasn’t unbearable and the people waiting along with us were friendly. My guess is that is a normal encounter if you’re a regular patron. When you get your order the staff make sure you check it for any mistakes before departing. The food was very good between the fried chicken, shrimp and veggie plate. My only drawbacks are there was no where to sit and eat and the portions for the veggie plate could’ve been more. Overall a positive experience.
I hate to give this review but the service was horrible. I called myself getting ahead of the line and ordered my food online. I get there the cashier looks at me with an attitude and rolled her eyes. I sit and wait in the lobby for 27 minutes waiting for my food. I ask her to check on it- she walks away so I ask another associate. It comes and it’s been sitting there for about as long as I’ve been waiting. She was like to you want a redo? I said of course. She then said it would be a 45 minute wait. She snickers then proceeds to the kitchen. Here I am, still… waiting. The associate went to the back.. cooks the food then slams the food on the table and was like CHOW ORDER! The other associate and her laughed.I didn’t see anything funny. This was inappropriate and unprofessional. Especially when I am supporting a black owned business. I will still frequent this establishment but I would love to have another experience.
My sister sent a container of chitterlings to my Rhode Island address yesterday from Jack's. I was so impressed!! They were extremely delicious and wonderfully flavored. Red pepper, hot sauce and the taste of vinegar popped in my mouth in such a surprising way. These are the best chitterlings I ever tasted! When I get to NC...I will make sure to dine at Jack's face to face. Keep cooking our food!!!
First time here and had a relatively good experience. When you first get here it looked not so appealing from the road but that all changes when you get in and smell the food cooking. Yes the parking lot is small but let's face it, you didn't come to park, you coming to get food. People who been there already now what to do and they come prepared to drop some off while the other person goes inside. You are going to have an exploration in flavorful food as everything I tried, I liked.Do give them a try and remember that I told you the food is great.
When you order your food and get ready to leave the parking area because the food smells so good. I open my food just to get a quick taste, and LAWD, I ate the entire meal before closing it back. I had to push my seat back for a quick nap.WAIT LETS NOT TALK ABOUT THE PEACH DRINK, THEN MIX IT WITH LEMONADE. I had to regroup my life before heading back to work.
Zero stars off the bat ordered fish and shrimp plate came to $17 with my small drink I asked for my fish to be fried hard and it wasn't plus the fish tasted fishy which means it was old or was handled properly coleslaw was changing color clearly stating that I wasn't made fresh or that day ??U would think with the amount of customers that go there the food would be good looks were deceiving ???? down for Jack's seafoodYall better give them a few days to sale that old fish before you go if u go at all
Very tasty down home Southern soul food served with a smile in a no-frills take out only restaurant. For a very busy Saturday afternoon and even though they have a sign up about being short-staffed, orders came out fairly quickly and service was friendly and personable. The fried catfish was perfection, with a crunchy crust and tender flaky flesh, and the sides were all on point. This is how food should be seasoned!!!Will definitely be back when visiting my Wolfpacker and she's added a new favorite place to get just like Grandma's style cooking.Tip: the parking lot is kinda narrow and might be tricky to navigate during busy times for first time visitors. Be sure to park where you can safely get out and be mindful of not blocking in others. And if you're able, always leave a little something in the tip jar for the hard-working staff!
I respect and support this black business and would visit again if I was in the area and craving fried fish. However, the batter on the fish was different and I didn't care for it. It was more like a hush puppy/puffy batter and I'm used to fish being fried in cornmeal. It didn't taste like catfish maybe because if the batter. But maybe this type of fish frying is region specific (I'm from the midwest) so I want to take that into consideration. The sweet potatoes could have had a tad bit more brown sugar and less souffle/mushy.
I really enjoyed the Flounder dinner, service is friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable. Keep up the good work and your service in the community!?
The absolute best country/soul food I’ve eaten since my momma passed away. My newest favorite restaurant in wake co. Btw the Gizzards are off the chart delicious.
