The GM and promoter have a fractured relationship. As someone who has worked in event planning and programming for a decade I can tell. It appears at face that promoters are restricted from receiving payment from bar sales so they gouge pricing from the door. This results in a negative transactional cycle where there are less people paying $40 at 1100pm, thus the bar suffers. If you own this establishment, you are sieving opportunity and equity. Fire this GM, hire a promote that shares in your success.

I have recently relocated to Raleigh, NC. My first experience at Glenwood Social Club was extremely dissappointing. The music and atmosphere was vibrant and enjoyable. However, the bartender, NICK that served us ( my friends and I) was impolite and had no intentions on making our experience enjoyable. He appeared irritated by our request and orders for drinks. The drinks are basic and simple drinks suchs as " cranberry and vodka". After, 20 mintues of waiting for ONE " cranberry and vodka" the drink was served and was halfway filled to the top. I did not say anything and went on with my night in attempt to have the right experience. When I reordered a drink the bartender declined to serve me and continued to tell me to " wait my turn" as he allowed people who came to the bar after me be served drinks. I attempted to get the bartenders attention again, at this point I had waited about 20 minutes. Once I was able to catch his attention the bartender rolled his eyes and made me another drink which was filled HALFWAY. Again, I let this go because I am not a confrontational indivudal and it appeareed that the bartender was having a roughh day. On my last attempt to order a drink the bartender told me that it was last call and the bar was closing and I would not be able to order another drink. At this time it was only 12:45am. With complete dissapointment my friends and I decided to leave the bar and try another place. I was bothered by this experience and felt that the bartender had some type of bias of toward my friends and I. I normally do not write reviews but, felt that this was important becuase bartender made my friends and I feel uncomfortable. I am not sure if I will be able to revisit this bar due to this experience but i hope that other customers do not have the same experience as I did.

Friday or Saturday night if you like a large crowd you want to be here. In the center of all the the happenings in the Gleenwood South party district. Matthew Kenner did a great job rebranding this location!

Nice atmosphere and Dj was on point but that buying a booth and no wear to sit is for the birds... Its tight in there and charging $10

10$ to get patted down on a Thursday and have zero fun at a bar? We walked in and then left 5 minutes later. Totally jipped. Do not come here and waste your money.

Enjoyed the atmosphere. They had a DJ, and the drinks were delicious. Really enjoyed my time here! For more Raleigh recommendations follow @raleighunlocked for all the hidden gems.

Drinks were great, music and the vibes were right. I enjoyed myself.

Very nice chill atmosphere with great drinks!

Loved the atmosphere!! DJ was Awesome!! Outdoor space is a nice touch.

Disappointing. GSC is not an upscale bar, but it tries to be.The decor is fine. The aesthetic is nice. The paint is cheap and the semi gloss finish is a disaster to look at. The bartenders are all high-volume bartenders that cater to college kids and the young twenties crowd. There's no professionalism behind the bar on the whole. My example, my drink, a dry martini, up with a twist took 10 mins to make, and it was a mess. Also, what's with the swat team of security guards at the bar each night??? It totally fails at making you feel comfortable and in some place high class. If that's what you want, try:C GraceEmpress RoomClockworkThe MerchantGreenlightHaymakerAnchor BarThe Ark RoyalBotanical LoungePros:It is nice inside. I'll give it that. It's an easy win especially if you have a date. They have a dj there too. Live entertainment is always a winner winner chicken dinner.
