Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere
We had a wonderful dinning experience here. We shared the crispy NC shrimp with garlic aioli and pickled green tomato appetizer and the chocolate peanut butter tart for dessert and both were delicious. I had the strip steak with yukon potatoes and smoked paprika cream which was smoke-grilled to perfection and probably the best strip steak I’ve ever eaten. My wife was less enthralled with the mahi fish dish with mussels, squid and tomato-saffron broth, but decided it was due more to her choice of dish rather than the restaurant’s culinary talent. We sat at the bar in front of the kitchen and watching them work was most interesting and entertaining. The service was very attentive. Our first time will definitely not be our last.

Made reservations two weeks in advance and had a small table for the two of us. Very tight quarters. Wait staff was attentive but not overly so. Meal was nothing short of amazing. We shared an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert. All were top notch. This is definitely a special event restaurant to celebrate occasions!
Pros: Food was delicious. Ambience was excellent. Servers were friendly and helped us choose the right food. The whole experience was fantastic. A great date night option.Cons: It was crowded and we were seated very close to the next table. It felt jam packed. We couldn’t talk freely since we could literally hear what the couple from the table next to us were talking.
This is, at the moment at least, some of the best food I have had in Raleigh. I think we had to make our reservations about a month out but it's worth the wait. Everything we had was perfectly seasoned, the warm oysters were a delightful change, steak was cooked perfectly. I think next time I would try to sit at the bar so I can get a good view of the open kitchen and the food being prepared. If you go for all of the courses, plan to be there for a little while, but you've waited this long for your reservations so don't feel bad if you spend a few hours.
Excellent experience here. The food was exceptional and the service was great. Menu was the right size and prices were reasonable for the quality. One of the best roasted sweet potatoes I’ve had in my life. Desserts were really creative but familiar without feeling gimmicky. Only complaint was the chairs were kind of flimsy for this caliber of restaurant.
Very nice restaurant in Raleigh. The good: I had the pork chop over cabbage and it was perfectly cooked and sliced over the cabbage and was delicious. $30 My wife had the steak with sweet potato and it was equally perfectly cooked and delicious. $37. Prices kind of high but fine for a nice restaurant with high quality food. The BAD: prices for beverages is completely obscene and tells you the restaurant is trying to rip you off. My wife ordered a glass of Cabernet and the price was $16. However, when it arrived at the table it was about 2.5-3 ounces! My IPA was $9 from a local brewery and was about 10 ounces. Completely ridiculous. So, overall, the food is great, but the fact the alcohol is so outrageously priced says that it's better to find another restaurant.
Had a wonderful dinner at Death and Taxes recently. The atmosphere, the food, the staff knowledge and the service were all top notch. Cannot wait to f=go back.
