This was our first time at the place. We are not NC locals, but wanted to try a BBQ place out before we passed Raleigh. The food was amazing, we got our taste of Southern cuisine and can’t wait to be back. The staff were friendly. You can tell everyone was very busy. This isn’t the type of restaurant where you get serve every minute. It’s very informal and just a nice intimate setting for casual hangout.
Clyde Cooper’s BBQ catered the Rehearsal Dinner for our son’s wedding party at the City of Raleigh Museum on 4-22-22. The food was great!!! I consider myself to be an expert on fried chicken and BBQ and our meal was as good as it gets!!! I think all of the 120 guest expressed how much they enjoyed the meal. We also appreciated how professionally the event was handled. They were prompt and the service was great!!! Thanks again! Tommy and Charlotte Price
The place was clean, the staff was friendly, our waitress was courteous, attentive, fast and cordial. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful. I would definitely recommend.
I've heard about this place for years. Many people I know like it however I've rarely been in the area to try it when I have a BBQ craving.I finally decided to take the drive. I stopped in around 2 so if there was a lunch crowd it was gone by then. I helped myself to a booth. Everyone I encountered was quite friendly. I ordered ribs and fried chicken with baked beans and collards.Ribs were well cooked but they were missing something. The sauce was applied to the ribs post cooking and not allowed to caramelize so it was just sitting on top of the rib.Fried Chicken was hot and crispy. It needed a bit of salt but otherwise good.Collards were highly rated here but I think mine were from the bottom of the pot as there was a lot of fat from the seasoning meat them. I would try another veggie next time.Baked beans were good and came out piping hot. I enjoyed them. I wanted to order some to go. They were a bit sweet but it was balanced by the saltiness of the meat.Skins and Hushpuppies were good.I would go out of my way to come back here for another combo plate. The place is kind of nostalgic and I see why people enjoy it.I'm not a fan of the message they have around credit cards. Say you're taking cards now and keep it simple. People rarely ever carry cash these days so you either have to take cards or risk your business.
I've tried eating here 3 times and every time they are out of 2+ items! I'm sure the food is delicious since they can't keep it stocked but I would love to actually be able to try it sometime! I even called this time before I drove over and they confirmed they were not out of anything yet. 5 min later they have suddenly run out of their chicken and mac and cheese. So essentially, probably good food because of the demand, but wish it would be available more frequently
My friend and I went there last week and I was really surprised and disappointed. The Bar B Q wasn't good at all, the cabbage was in huge pieces and extremely spicy to the point that I couldn't enjoy it, and you could literally see all the red pepper and the cold slaw wasn't good.I have been going there for over twenty years and I can honestly say I was very dissatisfied with the food but the collards were delicious as usual. Carolina Bar Q is so much better; I regret that I didn't go from the beginning.
Attending a work conference here and Raleigh and a local recommended we eat here. Definitely a good choice. Today was our 3rd day in a row eating lunch here. Fantastic atmosphere, staff and food. The hush honeys pushed me over the edge, time for a nap. Thanks for your hospitality, will definitely return if I attend the conference next year. Best regards Dan Montgomery county Police Maryland
It was my first time! It was delicious!! I will be back! My son took me to eat there after going to doctor appointments. It was so good. The waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Fantastic BBQ! The staff is always so friendly. I do not usually enjoy hush puppies, but the hush puppies at Clyde Coopers are so good!
Very rude manager Debbie. Being a manager means maintaining professionalism in any type of situation bc apparently she was upset and decided to take it out on a pregnant woman who was simply asking for a free cup of water. So unprofessional. I will not eat there again. The chicken barbecue was ok. French fries were a little overcooked and brown and the food was lukewarm. The food was not cooked fresh to order for sure or even kept warm. I work downtown but that is a restaurant I will surely bypass from now on bc of how I was treated. If someone tells you that you have bad customer service then you shouldnt cuss at a customer an ask them "if they want you to kiss their a##." I asked for refund before I left store she refused even though there was no sign stating no refund and I had not left the store or been rude. You should have better service because every customer is important and I felt it was bc of my skin tone that she talked to me in the manner she did bc I was in fact not rude I'm just a pregnant sensitive woman at the moment and she was very insensitive to that fact. So not only discrimination but rude while I was with my ederly client.
