I've been coming to the Bistro, as we affectionately call it, since...2006?! Anyway, I came with new friends and suggested Backyard Bistro because I know the owner, it's a small business, and they have great food, great prices, and portions, and plenty of parking. They're also super convenient if you're coming off 440, I-40, or by PNC. On this particular evening, Kimber was our server. She was fantastic! Fast, friendly, answer everyone's questions, was very attentive. I can't say enough good things about her or the Bistro! We'll be back again and again!!
The bar scene was great and the bartender was very attentive while we waited fir our table. Plenty of TV’s to watch games and it’s a relaxing atmosphere. The collards we’re my favorite… Tangy from the vinegar and oh so tender! The Mac snd cheese was extremely bland and a disappointment. The wings didn’t come sauced and we were told to sauce our own … Carrot pieces and one skinny celery piece provided.. disappointment with the presentation. The coleslaw had too much dill and overwhelmed the pulled pork which was tender and added sauce made it yummy

Awesome Food and Great Service
Very clean and spacious restaurant. Large selection of drinks and beers. Drink order taken within minutes of being seated. Large menu from sandwiches to full meals. Had the haddock plate with fries and hush puppies. Portions of all 3 were large. Fries were cold when food arrived. Had fresh hot fries with in minutes. Very fast service. Fish was lightly breaded and crisp, very good taste. Fries and hush puppies were also hot and tasty. Waitress was very attentive, but over attentive. Will return when in the area.
Promptly seated in a booth as requested. The hush puppies were overcooked, but tasty. The pimento cheese spread was very good as was the honey butter. The egg rolls were too salty. The brisket with mac and cheese: brisket great but mac and cheese school lunch quality. The shrimp and jalapeno cheese grits were well cooked and seasoned maybe a little too oily. Our guests ordered the chicken sandwich and the ribs and seemed to like their dishes. Our guest liked their monster lemonade and I, the tickle pig specialty drinks. My dish was chipped as was our guests so presentation not great. Service was prompt, Matthew was a great server, and everything else was as expected.
I had the Korean steak salad which I found to be excellent. Different kinds of lettuce, peppers, carrots, avacodo, etc, covered in a spicy sliced steak. It was filling. My wife had the redneck eggrolls which were stuffed with pulled pork and collards. Sounds like you have to be southern born and bred to enjoy it, but it was tasty. She also had wings which were so large she couldn't finish them. This is a sports bar and they have the largest screens I've ever seen, but it wasn't that noisy. Service was good and we will return next time we're in town.
We ordered the Master Sampler, the only good thing on this plate was the size positions and the ribs where tender. The brisket was way over cooked and dried out, the sausage was so spicy it had no flavor, the ribs where super tender but way over spiced, the bbq was just shameful for nc bbq, and the cole slaw I don’t even know how to desrcibe that taste. The management offered me something different but after tasting this awful plate I wasn’t interested in anything’s else.
My children and I had the pleasure of dining at Backyard Bistro on multiple occasions this past weekend. The waitstaff was incredibly accommodating, the menu selection was perfect for all ages, and the food itself was great. I would highly recommend that anyone or any group looking for a great environment to hang out and have a great meal delivered by a wonderful staff stop in and check it out. Thank you to Backyard Bistro, we will see you guys again the next time we are in town!!!
