I am Dominican and was excited to see a place finally selling Dominican cake. For those who know and have had DR cakes you know its hard to come by authentic Dominican cake because its definitely a labor of love but when done right its one of the most delicious desserts you'll taste. So I ordered not just the cake but an array of food over $100 worth. I was unfortunately disappointed. There was american cheese... on my cuban sandwich! My "bistec" sandwich had ham on it and again some kraft singles slices. The chicken stew was dry, no flavor. My "chicken croquetas" were more like chicken nuggets. Everything lacked flavor and was a far cry from authentic. The "Dominican cake" was soggy and also bland.
Ummmm…. This is definitely not authentic Dominican Food or Cake. I’m Dominican and just moved here from Miami. I was excited to see that there was a “Dominican” Cafe near me. I decided to give them a chance and wow all I can say is I’m disappointed. The chimi had no real flavor and it seemed like someone threw several packets of salt on it and called it a day. The empanadas were dry and held no real flavor. The quipes were underwhelming and lacked the usual seasoning you would find in Caribbean food. I was hoping the slices of cake I purchased would save the day but dang, it was completely soggy and not at all packing the flavors they promised. Dominican cake is suppose to be moist, not watery. We purchased 3 different slices of cake and none of them were good. If you’re truly from the island or have at least eaten in DR, don’t bother trying this spot cause this ain’t it.
The best Family owned dominican food in town! fresh food everyday , made from scratch, large portioned plates. And there strawberry fresno juice is the best ! Very good prices and service is phenomenal!
I am originally from New York and it’s hard to fine real Dominican Food . Angie is it Straight from the streets of Washington heights New York She has a forever customer in me and my co worker and the plates are huge. Thanks Angie for always making our lunch special
I’ve driven past this place dozens of times and had no idea they served hot food until I saw a sign outside their door advertising jerk chicken, empanadas, stew beef, etc. I decided to go in and ordered the stew beef with red beans, rice, and plantains. It was amazing, and the portions are massive. I have a big appetite and couldn’t finish the whole thing. Prices are very fair at around $10 for everything. I don’t always love plantains, but theirs are delicious. The red beans are great too. The place is modest, unassuming, and a bit of a “hole in the wall” (I mean that in the best possible way because hole in the wall restaurants are the most authentic and amazing, which this place definitely is). Highly recommended!
What a hidden gem! The food and bakery products are amazingly delicious and authentic. I stumbled upon this place last week. I was going to go to Smithfield, but I wanted more of a home-cooked meal. Which I definitely got here. They're a small establishment, so the menu is not that extensive. They have a lunch menu, a dinner menu and an assortment of cakes and pastries. Sweet potato pie is so good.... make you want to smack your mama!! Definitely a treat for the soul and worth a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th..... trip over there. Go treat yourself!!! Don't forget that sweet potato pie!!!
Angie's Dominican Cakes catered for my wedding and wow, the food and cake were amazing!! My guests were impressed and will call Angie for future events. Thanks Angie for making our special day perfect!
I urge everyone to pay them a visit. The food is amazing.. The portions are huge and for the price..I guarantee that you won't complain. And add to that goodness...Two great people that are always Soo polite and fun to be around. We laugh every time I visit.\\n\\nI am working on one of their sandwiches with fries and a small salad. I am full and still have half of the sandwich left... Gonna be ashamed of myself...gonna eat it right now !!\\n\\nThis is a must visit place to eat... And they sell cakes as well .. A wide variety of cakes...by the slice. Don't miss out or sleep on this place. Great food..Great People !!!!
AMAZING! The staff are amazing and so loving. JUst sweet people all around. The food is great and even better for the prices! Super authentic Dominican food and a great atmosphere. I 100% recommend!
A good place for athenic Dominican food. I visit here for the 1st time last weekend, and the food was amazing. I most definitely will be back
