My wife and I visited this quaint establishment and had such a wonderful time on their back patio.Visiting from Dallas we had to try their “Texas Fever Water” cocktail…it was outrageously good. And, when we asked about a solid beer choice they helped pick a local favorite from the Shortway Brewery that was a great compliment to our cocktail.

They cannot and SHOULD NOT accommodate large parties. They need to find a more efficient way to take orders, deliver food, and bring checks. We were there for THREE hours with a group of 25 people. Staff training would probably be helpful. We had reservations well in advance so they should have planned accordingly. We waited for one hour after finishing our meal to get the check, which was incorrect. The food was actually pretty good but I don't think I would go back simply because of the poor service. Three hours for a bar meal is really inexcusable.Parking is horrible. When we were there, they had the back parking lot blocked off so you couldn't park back there even though it was raining and no one was on the patio.Too many other restaurants in New Bern to settle for very poor service and no parking.

Was in need of a lightning lunch , Ordered the Italian Sausage Sandwich. It was yummy , fries were cold and soggy. I don't really eat fries so no worries there ,my fiancee ordered the Turkey and Cheese sandwich, hers was ok but one piece of bread was stale. The lady behind the bar replaced it with another sandwich. Staff was friendly , Overall not terrible but every restaurant has it's up and downs. We will come back with better expectations.

Today was by far the absolute worst experience we have ever had here! On a regular basis we come here and have a wonderful experience but today not the case. The staff let us know about all their personal problems, this is not what I was anticipating. I have family in town and told her this place was amazing…I was mortified! We ordered our food and it was never out in. We then got our order put in 30 mins later. About 5 minutes later the food came out. Which seemed odd. I now know why, the nachos were soggy and cold, the pastrami sandwich was awful!! The bread was soggy, the meat wasn’t cooked, the fries were cold. I understand every place has a bad day. The man behind the counter asked how everything was before I could finish letting him know, he walked away. I wish previously I would have given them a 5 star review so that you would truly know that this 1 star review is absolutely necessary.

My husband and I spent this past weekend in New Bern. We loved this place so much that we dined there twice. The owner, and the staff were very friendly. The food and the beer was yummy! The atmosphere is just perfect, whether you eat inside or outside. We highly recommend visiting this pub.

Nice cozy place. Wondered in there on a Sat nite. Staff made u welcome. Service was nice.. There draft beer is very good. Probably the best draft I have tasted in awhile. Definitely will be back.

Loved our experience, as always. Dave at the bar was a joy and the service stellar. Food is always expected to be excellent and never disappoints. I'm newly a local & this is my go to pub & patio!!!

Cozy and friendly place with upstairs dining and a bar and patio. Friendly staff and good yummy British pub like food. Had the pub plate fries and beef gravy with beef patty , yum.

Last Sunday a friend and I went there for dinner. It was good although the serving size of the flounder was a bit smallTonight's visit was sadly poor. I ordered two appetizers for my meal. They make these large meatballs with sauce and pup fries with chili cheese. I assume it was the owner who brought me one of the appetizers and the second dish was a sandwich, which he insisted was what I had ordered. Rather than cause a fuss, I took the sandwich which came with fries along with the fries I had ordered as one of my appetizers. By the time I finished the sandwich, the appetizer order of chili cheese fries was cold. Not cool, cold. They were stringy, greasy. All the food was tasteless. What I hadn't eaten I didnt even bother to take with me. There seemed to be a lot of chaos behind the bar. The folks to my right waited a disproportionate amount of time just for their drinks. Just seemed so much lack of professionalism. Okay, its Friday. But this isnt their first friday. Lack of preparation, staffing whatever, sadly is a poor excuse. My wife and I had been there prior to her passing and we liked what we had, good service, tasty food, but this was just too discouraging. Discouraging enough that I'm not going back.

Quaint pub perfectly tucked away in old town New Bern just a block from the Neuse and right around the corner from Union Point Park. Friendly service with a smile, ample outdoor seating, and ice cold beverages. Definitely come check out Michael's for a tasty bite to eat or just a social drink with friends.
