Everything you hear great about this restaurant…you can believe it. They were very busy on a Friday night at 5 pm. Reservations are highly recommended since they are apparently always busy. Luckily we got seated fairly quickly and even the owner was going around helping anyone and everyone which is unusual. Outstanding customer service and just when you think that would be the best part…the food comes out and WOW just WOW. Every part of our meal was delicious. Could not have asked for any better.
This evening we took a break from our little road trip to have an early dinner in New Bern at La Casetta. At the door, the hostess informed us that they had only one table available that didn’t have reservations if we could be finished before 7 PM. We decided to go for it, and everything came out in a very timely fashion, so it all worked out for everyone. We sat in the back room, which is actually perfect for us with our autistic daughter. She needs room to move and isn’t always quiet. Our server was nice and helpful, returning to our table quite often to keep things moving- she was available but not hovering. We decided to skip an appetizer and just ordered our daughter’s angel hair with butter right away. I ordered the Rigatoni Porcini and added on a side salad for $2.50, and opted for the fresh pasta for an extra $3.50. My boyfriend ordered the “make your own pasta dish” in which he chose angel hair, grilled chicken, and marinara sauce. He, too, added on a side salad and the fresh pasta. The server brought a basket of freshly baked bread to our table while we waited. In conversation, we learned that the chef individually prepared each meal, so we expected a long wait. However, it wasn’t long until my daughter’s pasta and our salads arrived with a fresh basket of bread. And just as we were finishing our salads, our pastas arrived. They were beautiful and tasted delicious! We all asked for to-go containers about halfway through, and I was happy to see that they were aluminum and plastic lids, rather than styrofoam. The server plated them for us, and we were off! My boyfriend was pleased with the bill as much as he was with the food- he was surprised that it wasn’t more, with our add-ons and his beer.As we were leaving, I commented that I had found another surprise gem! My boyfriend agreed.
From a first generation Italian, skip this place. One star for the bread, one star for the actual pasta. Had it been combine with proper ingredients it could have been fantastic. However the “sauce” was the consistency of 2% milk, and tasted like milk muddled with mushrooms. An absolute waste of $20. I DoorDashed it while sick and I wish I had stuck with something I knew was consistent.
What a charming little Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was tranquil. The service was good - seated promptly and a waitress checked in immediately to get us drinks. I loved the small touches, cloth napkins and fresh bread. The soup was hot and freshly made. The lettuce in the small salads was crisp and reasonably priced ($2.50). Both marinara and meat sauce was excellent. So tasty! The spaghetti was perfect- neither too soft or chewy. Stop by, you won't be disappointed. ?
Absolutely amazing! Food was perfect. Plating was better than the pick, I ate some first.
Excellent food and excellent portions, will definitely be going back, some of the better Italian food ive had
Ordered bread sticks and got a hoagie bun with cheese on it for $8, and the pizza was sub par at best. Ordered the Hawaiian, very bland and the crust had a odd taste. Do yourself a favor and go to Dominos before this place.
We’d been wanting to try this place for a while-based on reviews and the pictures of their authentic Italian food. Usually sundays our only free night, but they are closed. Made a 5pm reservation for Valentine’s Day, and were sat promptly. This is where it went downhill. Took forever to get drinks-the place was empty. We told them we’d like to enjoy our drinks for a bit and the waitress told us we had to make a choice on what we wanted-there was no regular menu like we’d been planning on ordering from, only the very limited specials we were informed after the fact. They ran out of the 2 different beers we drink after having 1 a piece. AT 5pm!? On Valentine’s Day? The waitress had no idea what any of the limited menu choices were or what was in them. There were no prices on the limited menu. The food came out cold and extremely small portions. $135 for cold, over fried burnt chicken, old tomatoes for Caprese, tiny portions, what seemed like rolled old deli ham with potato salad in it and a few beers that weren’t to our liking and 2 different waitresses. The pasta was their saving grace, besides the sausage and mushroom Alfredo being quite dry. We took our dessert parfait to go… sad.
Pretty underwhelming. New waitress didn’t help. Had about 2 inches of foam in my glass of Guinness. My husbands chicken parmigiana seemed like it was just drowned in sauce. Don’t know why his meal came put together but mine came with two separate plates. Neither come with pasta, so that was weird I had to put mine together. I ordered the veal marsala. The texture of my homemade pasta was AMAZING. Not all to sure what they put on it but it didn’t mix well with the veal marsala at all. The mushroom and artichoke dip was pretty great, it’s a SUPER cheesy dip. The bread for it was great too. Their tiramisu was also pretty good.
I had fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, mushrooms, and broccoli. Food was really good... the only thing I would complain about is the upcharge for broccoli was $2 and I got about 4 stems (no flower part, just the stem) and maybe 2 half pieces. I actually took the stems out. Other than that, food was really great. A little pricey for lunch, my meal was $25 (before tip). I did get homemade pasta so I know there's a charge there. Overall, I would definitely return.. just next time leave the broccoli off!
