absolutely fabulous. oh my gosh. will diffently be back. The bakery oh my you got to visit it.

I have dined there several times during my visit to New Bern with my family and friends and have nothing but praise for this establishment! The service is fantastic, the crew is always courteous, and the food is excellent! This is our "go to" restaurant when we're in town! I highly recommend "Famous" restaurant to anyone visiting New Bern!
I used Famous for my wedding cake and they were awesome to work with! Due to COVID, they did the cake tasting as a send-home cake. My (then) Fiancé get to choose 5 different icing and cake flavors and then they sent us a package with 5 good-sized mini cakes to try! It was awesome! We got to try our cake from our couch and had plenty left over to enjoy for a couple of days. Let me tell y'all, the cakes were AMAZING!!! For us it was a toss-up between strawberry cake with fresh strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing and lemon cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream icing....it was so hard to decide!! We could've done both, but went with the strawberry since our wedding was in April during prime strawberry season!! They were easy to work with as far as design, size, and service! And our cake turned out GORGEOUS!! Not to mention, the cake stand they provided was PERFECT!! 10/10 would recommend them for any bakery needs!!!!
I’ve had issues with customer service all but the first time I’ve come in. I’ve placed two different togo orders since the first time we sat in. The first time we ate there, the spaghetti was wonderful. I got a burger and it was the worst burger I have ever had. The waitress offered to take it off the ticket and we said no it was okay. She gave us a free piece of cake and two sweet rolls to take home for it. She was a wonderful server. It did take them about 15 minutes to acknowledge us though. The first togo order I got was an Italian sub. Called and placed the order. They were not friendly on the phone, didn’t even get my name or say goodbye. Just hung up on me. Fine whatever. The sub wasn’t that great.Thursday, I did a togo order of a gyro with fries and an extra side of taziki sauce. They charge me 3$ for the extra sauce and charged me 4$ for the fries. Well I got there and they had given my food away. So I had to wait another 15 minutes for my food. Not the worst thing, they were busy. (The young boy behind the counter couldn’t keep up with answering all the phones and cashing people out. People were getting upset) I got my order. Took it home and this is what it looked like. Wilted lettuce. No sauce whatsoever. It was not good. I had to pick it all off. I’m thankful I got my 3$ sauce so I had sauce to put on it. Will not be coming back. Tried three times and every time was disappointed.
Love, ❤️ Famous! Extremely busy but great customer service and staff. Friendly, efficient. Food comes out quickly. The pizza is consistently good. The bakery next door will tempt you to spend a weeks worth of money on desserts.You can’t go wrong here!
Their “Greek food” is simply subpar to put it eloquently. Their gyro platter is advertised as “tender strips of beef and lamb”. What they don’t say is that you’re basically getting Spam. It’s a soft loaf that’s pressed and sliced. Not sliced beef and lamb. And half of mine was burnt beyond recognition and placed underneath the better looking pieces. Gross. Definitely NOT what I was expecting. And definitely not worth the money. Sad experience.
Wonderful place. Visiting family so they had to take us to their favorite restaurant. This place did not disappoint us. There were a wide range of options on the menu. The portion sizes were excellent and made for a great value. Some with us got take home boxes and will get a second meal out of it. The server was top notch as well. Fast, efficient, thoughtful and very friendly. We will be back I'm sure.. next time when the bakery is open!
I have had the chicken gyro, pizza and Mediterranean salad at different times. It was all fabulous! I think my favorite, though, is the gyro. Everyone who works there is so friendly. The bakery is wonderful. I have a slight almond intolerance and they are always happy to find out, if they don't already know, if something has almonds in it. I live close by, but if I didn't I would still drive to get the wonderful food and baked goods.
My coworker and friend brought a box of assorted cupcakes from the bakery to a team luncheon in High Point. The cupcakes were absolutely stellar! Not only beautiful but incredibly tasty. They were boxed with care and traveled well. I am so appreciative she shared this gem with us all. Highly recommended!
