What-A-Burger is a super fun piece of nostalgia. A great place to take kids and show them a bit of the past. You can go inside and order or you can use the original drive-in order speakers from the 1960s! They serve a simple burgers and fries type of menu. Try a cherry-lemon Sundrop for the full What-A-Burger experience!
We have not been to a What-A-Burger in ages. We visited this one while on a field trip with our granddaughters. The food was excellent, just like we remembered.
Can't go wrong when you decide to eat at what a burger. The Mooresville WAB is a very nice and clean restaurant. Very spacious restrooms. <3
FANTASTIC FOOD! Many thoughts of yesteryear with the metal order boxes at your parking spot. Old timey hamburgers, hotdogs, fries or rings with a soda and/or an old-fashioned milk shake! If you would love to have a meal and experience nostalgia at the same time, this is this place! **The name of the place explains the burgers all too well! **
Let's get this straight. You're not coming to this restaurant for their speedy service, they're welcoming smiles, and for the great atmosphere. You're coming to this restaurant for their burgers. That's what they have and that's what they do great. If you choose to sit inside, you will order your food and take a seat. Waiting patiently for your ticket number to be called. And as every ticket number is called, it is kind of like a bingo game. You're just waiting to get your numbers. It's a great experience for anybody who has never experienced that style of restaurant. I personally love it, it brings back great memories and I loved the food itself. The restaurant itself was definitely not the cleanest on the inside. Looks like it hasn't been updated since 1960. But once again you're not coming for the atmosphere. You're coming for the burgers. They were great and I loved them and I would do it again.
I am subtracting 1 star because I thought I was going to Whataburger (NO HYPHENS). Was disappointed to find that What-a-Burger and Whataburger are different. I ordered anyway and learned about the history of the two restaurants while waiting. The burger was fine. Very similar to the original.
This is the Double What-A-Burger w/chz & small fry!! OOOHWHEE This was GOOD! Ya'll go check em out!
Stopped in here to eat supper Friday night after shopping @ the Mooresville Antique mall. My husband used to eat at What-A-Burger years ago (at other locations) and we saw this one and were excited to try it. We parked at one of the speakers and all we heard was a muffled sound. Never could understand anything they were saying. So we pulled up and parked and went inside to eat. We ordered and my husband wanted a apple turnover for dessert which they were out of. To be a "retro" style burger place - the workers all seemed like they were miserable working there. Everyone had on dirty clothes like they slept in them, one girl had on pajama pants. The whole place seemed sad and dirty. Our burgers were just so-so - nothing great. Just a small amount of fries that looked like they'd been sitting out for a while. While we were eating the one lady that was operating the outside speakers was screaming to the people outside which obviously couldn't hear anything but she kept screaming "take your order" over and over. SOOOOOO rude sounding like she was about to start cussing them out.Of all the places we could have chosen we thought this would be a fun meal from my husbands past experiences eating here but we were highly disappointed. We won't be back. Cool sign outside though - that was about the only thing good about it.
Stopped for 5 seconds to send a text and the rude lady says ‘sir im going to need you to move over there’ there was no one in the parking lot. Don’t command me! You treat customers with respect. I had only stoped to shoot a text. Go to Thai Thai instead!
Slower than normal service and 2 of 3 orders had small mistakes in toppings. Usually they do much better. Might have just been an off night.
