The food is great. It’s not your typical American-Chinese restaurant. The dishes are more authentically Chinese, and every time I’ve had something with chicken in it, the chicken is incredibly tender. Their Crab Rangoon‘s are great. Their wait staff is kind, and the service is quick.
We’ve been searching, without success, for a good Chinese takeout restaurant in the Lake Norman area and tried Lotus for the first time. Unfortunately, the search will continue. We just found most of the dishes we ordered to be quite bland. The moo shu pork was decent, but the chop suey, fried rice and chicken dish were lacking in flavor.

Today, I had a trip to Mooresville and me, my mother, and grandmother stumbled across Lotus for some lunch it was also our first time eating there. I really liked the young man that attended us, very sweet! I had the beef and broccoli, it was very delicious sadly I was really full to eat all of it. If you’re ever in Mooresville I’d suggest to stop by Lotus, best place ever!
This restaurant started up when I was fifteen. Forty one years later it is still operated by the same guy and the food has not changed to me. Always great always hot. If for some reason something isn't to your liking they always make an effort to make you happy. Scallion chicken is always a favorite!

My preference is to get Chinese takeout, but every once in a while, I like to dine in. This was my first time at Lotus. The staff is friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the fresh, crispy noodles and duck sauce along with the fried dumplings. Everything we ordered was fresh and cooked to perfection. I had the hunan shrimp and broccoli, and my husband had the general tso chicken with a side of fried rice. Needless to say, we went home with leftovers. I will happily go back and I do recommend this restaurant.
For the life of me I cannot figure out how this place has anything beyond a 2 star review. We have lived and worked in the area for over 10 years and just recently came to Lotus on a Sunday when Eatabowl was closed. We should have turned around when we saw the buckets of water on the ground from the ceiling leaking, yes is was raining, yes they have severe water damage that needs to be addressed. The entire cealing looked like it was about to cave in. The health department really needs to go and review this building. If this is what the dining room looks like, I would hate to see the kitchen. For some reason they had all the customers crammed into one small room, during a pandemic, instead of using both rooms (L-shaped building) so you felt like you were right on top of the person next to you and hearing their every sound. Their food was also disgusting. I've had better Chinese food in mall food courts. It was this dark meat soggy chicken with more breading than actual meat. We ordered Szechuan chicken, sesame chicken and lo mein noodles. For a table of four they brought us a rice bowl, the size of a cereal bowl... for four people. The rice was about the only thing we could stomach. I would not go here again if the food was free. This is by far the worst dining experience we've had in Lake Norman.
The owners are great, the food is fabulous. David the waiter is our 4yr old grandson's favorite person in the world. Lol. We drive an hour to eat there. It's the best. We drive over 30 miles to eat there.
The gentleman who answered the phone was so nice and very inviting when picking up my order. The food however was mediocre at best. My sweet and sour chicken was sitting in the sauce so now it’s soggy sweet and sour chicken. The rice was okay but nothing to write home about. The egg roll was probably the best part. Disappointing to say the least, especially after reading other reviews. This is my first and last visit there.
