Excellent fried chicken and I can tell you how to tell the difference between a five-star chicken house and the rest. And that is the wing. When you order a two-piece white and the wing and breast are cooked to perfection then you know you are at a good chicken house. I did not have to wait long for my order but even if I did it would be worth the wait. That is to be expected when they cook to order which is much better than having chicken. Sit around for 2 hours. Waiting on somebody to order it. Like some places do I can tell this chicken was cooked to order. And if you notice an increase in price of things that you buy, talk to President Brandon about that.
Hands down the best fried chicken I have had anywhere - and I am old and been nearly everywhere. I had the fried okra and mac and cheese with it, and they were excellent as well. The service was a little disorganized, which was probably due to the small lobby/ordering area, and the amount of people arriving all at the same time. This is clearly a popular restaurant for all the right reasons.
It took a while for the chicken to cross the road but when it arrived it was delicious. the roasted corn,taters,slaw and sweet tea was perfect. I'll definitely return to explore more of the menu.
I am a longtime Monroe resident and Hathaway's is and has always been a favorite of mine until my visit on 4/10/2022 where I saw a huge(40%) price increase on menu prices. I understand the state the country is in and how it cascades down. But at that rate you will drive a wedge in consumer relations and patronage from the very people that have supported over the years. I think that amount of an increase was extreme.
Order a two piece porkchop dinner with Mac and Cheese and potato salad (not pictured). Hot and delicious! Mac could have been better, but I'll definitely go back!
Great 8 piece chicken family deal, next day cold chicken deals, livers, gizzards, tater slices, fried okra...also chicken & dumplings certain days. In older building near Aldi's & Cookout but don't let the outside fool you...what is inside will make you wonder why you never ate here in the past!
Great chicken, the tenders are whole breasts, flattened and fried perfectly (they look like fried flounder); so good. Mac & cheese and okra are really good too. Very friendly staff and well worth any wait for fresh, great tasting food at fair prices. You won't be disappointed. Support local!
This is one of the best places to eat ever. We moved 3 years ago and anytime we are close we stop back by and grab the best popcorn Chicken, fries, Mac and cheese and biscuits ever!! Really wish they was in Camden SC as they could make a killing here as almost all restaurants are either fast food or places I don't care for. I would eat at this place daily, it's just that good!!
Hathaways is absolutely the best fried chicken place in Monroe if you haven't tried it you got to try it they definitely rate Five Stars it's even good cold
Whenever I'm in Monroe, NC and I'm in the mood for Fried Chicken I always stop here. To me, it's better than Popeyes, KFC, etc. I love the potatoes wedges and the biscuit!
