My wife had been here previously and raved about her experience. Now we love all types of Japanese food because our son and granddaughter live in Japan. We go there every three to four years. So we know real Japanese cooking, including sushi. Anyway, this lunch trip we wanted Hibachi style lunch. I ordered steak and chicken, my wife ordered shrimp and chicken. The salads came. They were not good and I couldn't wait for the main meal. WOW. It was horrible. Everything was so overcooked. Even our spring rolls were almost burned. The sauces were salty and weak tasting. My wife was shocked. I was so disappointed. The staff is very nice. The prices are fine. But the food was terrible. Maybe some day we will try again

I don't always get to give 5 stars, but the presentation was just as good as the food. The sushi deluxe was amazing! All food was very fresh.
Second time here and so yummy again! We had 3 rolls (Fried Philadelphia, Pop Pop Girl & Volcano without spicy lava sauce) then as if we weren't stuffed, finished off with Tempura ice cream.
Wonderful food, wonderful service. Very attentive people and the most wonderful sushi I've ever had. The prices are in line with other sushi places and I enjoy the intimate atmosphere.
Best Katsu Chicken! Not all Japanese restaurants have it, this one obviously does. They serve it on a bed of veggies and a small side of white rice. They're stuffed jalapenos are really good too. They're real jalapenos stuffed with (imitation?) crab meat and fried with tempura batter. Large selection of sushi too, my wife got the bagel roll. Looked really good, but I don't eat sushi. Highly recommend Umami, they're food is great and they're also super nice?

First time dining at the restaurant - nice relaxed ambiance and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I have always enjoyed the food - the sweet potato rolls and AAC rolls are my favorite!
We love Umami! Staff is incredibly sweet and kind and the sushi and Hibatchi is delicious! Muri Mountain roll is a must when you go in!
