“I’m gonna have to ask you to get up, the next group is here waiting to be seated.” is not what you expect to hear ever, in any restaurant especially one that wants to play with the big boys like La Belle Helene and can themselves fine dinning. Let me give you the run down of what happened up until that point. We were the first ones there were we arrived 5 minutes early for our 5:30 reservations and felt rushed from the time of ordering appetizers, when the server said, “the chef likes it when you put in your entrées at the time of ordering the appetizer, to keep from confusion later”,… huh?? What does that even mean buddy?? Well, it’s not his fault, and you can tell this is a management issue, and I might add that he still received a 25%tip regardless of anything, he didn’t cook the food. Next, the server brought out two pieces of bread, very dry and floury bread, with oil and herbs for dipping, sort of like Carrabbas except for not as good, and I’m not advocating for Carrabbas here, it just wasn’t good at all! French onion had WAY too much bread, too little onion and cheese, maybe 5 out of 10, you can have better at Longhorns and they’re not even French or fine dining!! The duck entrée was disappointing, and I’m sort of glad for the small portion size for I wouldn’t have wanted to eat much more of it anyways!! My date and I both had Crème brûlée for dessert, it was okay but definitely not worth the money. Atmosphere was okay, location is nice, the look was ok, the presentation of the food was great , but that’s about it. I can’t get over the fact that right after I paid $106 for this experience, the manager would come up to me while my date is using the rest room to ask me to clear the table to make room for those who are outside waiting to be seated. How is that my problem that you overbook yourself, and we weren’t even there that long since she only had one glass of wine. I’m from Europe and I assure you, you don’t get rushed out of any restaurant there, EVER!! And lady, just so you know, you don’t hide your emotions well, your face said it all when I told you that I will sit right here until my date gets back from the bathroom, I mean who would ask someone to leave the table while the other person is still in the bathroom, how can you even ask me that?? And this is regular practice here I saw , others have said the same thing about you in different reviews, you ask people to clear the table, I mean who does that?!! I really can’t explain why you have any good reviews at all aside from people either don’t know or understand fine dining. Save yourself the trouble/disappointment and don’t eat here, spend the extra $50-100 and experience actual fine dining. And by the way, I also find it interesting that you didn’t reply to the other person who left you a similar review, the other lady you asked to clear the table to make room for others, happened about 4 months ago. Just wrong!!!
Second time to eat here. Great food both times. Friendly people. Chef/Owner comes by and checks on you.
Made reservations online. Got automated text to confirm or cancel. I confirmed. Got automated reply saying we look forward to seeing you. I replied stating that I was reading the reviews at that particular moment. Automated text said my comments would be noted with my reservation. I requested to sit at Zack’s table because he had a good review. Soon afterwards I got a voicemail from Adam. Then a text. “Instead of coming at 6:30, if you can come at 6:45 by then I’ll have a better table for you”.We walked in and I felt like the king and my wife was the queen. Santé Veronica greeted us and sat us exclusively. Of course Zack was our server. Professional and prompt.!! Adam the owner/chef came out and spent several minutes with us after we finished our meal. Pork chops with apple chutney….mmmm. Salmon with pecans was my wife’s entrée. “Excellent”I did expect to pay more for fine dining BUT It wasn’t as much as I was prepared to pay and it didn’t break me….it was worth every penny! We’ll go again!!
This place was a nice surprise! Small but comfortable. Better make a reservation. Pork chop was very tender and juicy. The chicken had tons of flavor and nice crisp on the skin. Love the glaze and apple chutney they serve with them! The bacon brussel sprouts are a must as well! The crab cakes are probably best I've had within a 100 miles. Finally the desserts are top notch as well. Top it all off with some nice wines and great service (thanks Zac) and this place is one you need to try out!
Food was great! Loved the French onion soup and mahi mahi. Large cocktail & wine list. Our server was super nice and attentive. I would recommend going there & we cannot wait to go back!
Went here for our anniversary and it was delicious and such a cute spot. I got the salmon and my husband got steak. The fried green tomato appetizer was very good as well. Will be going back to try more items!
My husband and I do not go out to eat much because he prefers my cooking over restaurants but when we do venture out we try local fare. It was our eight year anniversary and we went to Sante tonight. I have been there before but it’s been a while. It was definitely a 5 star night. The grouper was divine! The service was on point and I can’t say enough about Chef Adam. If you live anywhere close to downtown Matthews I highly suggest a visit to Sante I promise you won’t be disappointed!W
The singers were wonderful and the food was beyond delicious. Great Christmas event. Would definitely do again and hope to make a tradition.
This place is a true gem! One of the best restaurants in the area. Clean, professional and authentic. The food was beyond excellent. Great place for a celebration dinner.
We had an incredible dinner last night at Sante. I had the chicken which is the best chicken I have ever had in my life. A must try for everyone. My husband had the steak, it was so tender and cooked perfectly. We started with a french onion soup and the panzanela salad. Both were wonderful. The specialty wine they are offering for their 20 year anniversary was fantastic. The service was exceptional. We love Sante. We finished with the s'mores desert. It was SO good!
