We usually come during the week..great hostess & waitress..came on Friday..our normal hostess not there.some young miserable girl barely acknowledged us and sat us and the waitress never came..when my husband inquired as to where our waitress was the hostess said”yea I told her” out the door we went!
Obviously having trouble staffing. The restaurant wasn't even half full and they were sending people away. Respect that they are trying to stay open but if open should try and provide better food and service.Service was incredibly slow, the staff that was there seemed to be working , not standing around, but ordering was slow to happen then food took longer than normal. 6 people - 5 had below average food , 1 said his was good. Maybe being generous with 3 star.
Food is always okay. Nothing special but not bad either. Service was okay today, they weren't that busy. What's annoying is that all the prices on the menu are inaccurate. Philly was $12.99 on the menu, spinach dip $9.99. I'm not worried about the $2 we were overcharged but it's just the principle. They really need to update their menu or let customers know that there is a price increase on literally every item.
I've never had good service at this place, even before the pandemic, but decided to give it another try. Unfortunately we had the same experience.... Took a long time to get acknowledged at the bar when there were only 4 other people. When the bartender did finally come by, she handed us menus and left. No greeting, didn't ask if we wanted a drink. She was very much preoccupied with conversing with regulars instead We got nachos for a small appetizer and they were not good either, all of the toppings were on top, so we had a pile of plain chips essentially. I don't see this place surviving too much longer, especially with new places going in at Birkdale Landing. Definitely recommended Firebirds or Arnie's instead if you're looking to go out in that area
Food was good. Service was horrible. Could only get 2 menus. For a groop of 4. No refills on drinks. Have to walk up to the bar to get our bill. There was no one in there at 01130. Don't bother going in there go to barkdale village. Go to Google maps
The WORST Service!!! DO NoT waste your time! It was 6:35 on Monday night. Slow at that time. 3 ladies we all orders salad with loaded baked potatoes. Simple right? Had to go to the bar and get our own drink order after waiting 15 mins and then our baked potatoes came out COLD. Asked for them to replace w/ HOT potatoes. They had no more potatoes??? Manager sis NOT care!! Will NEVER go to Hickory Tavern. HORRIBLE!!!
Awesome atmosphere their staff is extremely friendly. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer and lobster sandwich. The beer was refreshing, and they have a very large selection on draft. There are a lot of TVs in here to watch sports. My lobster sandwich was incredible. Very generous portion of lobster and the brussel sprouts I ordered with bacon were bomb.
When we first got to the restaurant it was busy. But the time we had been seated it was almost empty. Our waiter was terrible. We sat for 20 minutes he came to take our drink order. We informed him we where actually ready to order he told us he would only take our drink order and be back for the test after we recurve our drinks. 15 minutes later we recurve our drinks and had order taken finally. After waiting for a half hr waiter came back to inform us they where our of ham for the Cuban sandwiches. 15 minutes later we finally received our order. The food was decent not great. If the burgers would of been hot may of been better. After finishing eating we had to wait for 20 minutes to get out ticket do to our waiter standing in the middle of the restaurant flirting with 2 female employees. We will never be going back.
Food took forever, had to ask 3 times for silverware. Appetizer came out after our meal... Don't think I'll be back anytime soon..
Got the tavern burger..was really great...good flavor...I used to come in on the all you can eat peel an eat shrimp.. On Thursday night... please bring this back. It's our job as customer to keep the ocean shrimp population under control so they don't over populate an interbreed with one another...ayce shrimp
