Not what we hoped for. Very, very noisy. I know it's an old house but there are screens and artwork and white noise items that can be utilized. Service was sluggish but everyone's so shorthanded its hard to count that. The cheesecake here was amazing, but the rest of the food was just OK. We weren't informed that a menu item was unavailable until after we ordered and it was sent to the kitchen.This could be a 5 star restaurant in an area that could really use one.We'll be returning after a few months and see if maybe we just caught them on a bad night. Definitely worth a visit with properly set expectations.
Our occasion was a mixed one, a business dinner with friends wrapped around a birthday celebration. We weren’t very familiar with Hickory so I searched reviews and decided to book here. The Vintage House was fantastic, from the building itself to the decor to our server, and then came the food. As good as the ambiance was, the food was so amazing that all of us (10 people) were raving about it into the next week. Most in our group live hundreds of miles away but I’m less than an hour so I’ll be making another reservation very soon!
We had a birthday dinner for 2. It was so nice. Food was delicious. Server was great. Very relaxed meal & felt like we stepped back in time 100 years but with a modern twist. Beautiful decor.
Excellent dining will definitely be back Wine suggested was outstanding!
Kennedy was attentive and personable without being intrusive.. Yes cargo was perfect. Sidecar was perfect. Short but nicely varied wine list. I highly recommend.
This has been one of our favorite restaurants for years, but unfortunately, new ownership has made many changes and eliminated the consistency that we have always enjoyed. The updated decor is nice, but the real reason for a fine dining restaurant is great food, and it used to be superb. Now, the quality and quantity have declined, and the cost has increased. The extensive wine list has been replaced with only a few limited selections. Our order of bread was excellent, but the positive experience ended there. My entree of Crab Cakes appeared to have plenty of crab, but only tasted of strong lemon. The salmon entree which has always been a favorite was smaller and not well prepared. Vegetables with both entrees were disappointing as well. Our service was OK, but the poor quality of the food made this a much less than enjoyable experience.
Everything was wonderful from the service to the food. Started with yeast rolls. Outstanding! The salads and entrees were excellent! The service was great! Definitely will return.

We were in town for business from Charleston, SC. If your a foodie, you know even the gas station food in Charleston can be excellent. The experience here is Charleston level. You could put this place in DT Charleston and never know it came from Hickory NC. The food prep/taste and presentation were beyond excellent. Our server Jennifer was very knowledgeable of her food and wine and treated us like she had known us for the past 10 years. Sincerely going back for a weekend just to have dinner there again. ABSOLUTELY a must if your in the areas.
