I wanted to like this place as several people told me to try it out in Hickory. But the lack of any smoke at all on their BBQ was not to my liking. They do a really good job of being hospitable, and it is a perfect small town restaurant- like you might find on that Food Network show. However, BBQ in the Carolinas needs smoke- Hickory smoke to be exact. And there was none. Didn't see a wood pile, didn't see any smoke, didn't smell any smoke and didn't taste any smoke. If you want a quick lunch at a super friendly little dive, this place will do that for you. But if you crave a real Carolina BBQ experience, I would pass on Mt View BBQ.

The BBQ was good but everything that we got that was fried( squash,onion rings, Mac bits) had so much breading on it the inside dough was uncooked or burnt. We couldn't eat it. Our server was great and very attentive. She is the only reason I am giving a 3 star.
Great food. Great service. Simple meals. Great pick when you don't want chain restaurant food. There double cheeseburgers are the BEST!!!
