They have changed owners and the name! Now 5th St. Hardware Restaurant & Taproom. Info Needs to be updated on Google Maps. Food, prices, and service were very good. We ate lunch around 3pm. Super Friendly staff? Place looks really clean and would probably be a great stop before a show at the state theater next door! Free parking across the street. Full Bar ?.
This was our second visit (read: second chance) and were genuinely disappointed at every level of our experience. The service was incredibly slow - it took 45 minutes to get our food once ordered. This wasn’t lunch time rush and there even appeared to be more staff than needed. While we waited, we had the pleasure of watching a bartender on what I hope to be his first day being behind a bar. He measured drinks by pouring liquor into a shot glass, letting it overflow all over his hands and into the drink. I hope the dirty mirrors behind the bar are not indicative of their cleanliness at large. The food was aggressively sub-par. The “chili” on the mucho nachos was just ground beef left near an open can of tomato sauce. I’ve never had nachos in which I actively wanted to avoid the meat. There’s a 50/50 chance the flatbread was actually just a microwaved lunchable. The patty melt was flavorless and soggy. We will likely only come back after 6-12 months once they have the opportunity to find any level of management to review any aspect of their operations.
Very nice, relaxing meal. Great food. Great service. We all shared a giant, soft pretzel and pimento cheese deviled eggs (wonderful!). My wife and brother in law enjoyed chicken wings with various sauces, and I lined the Old Fashioned sandwich (a sour dough panini filled with pimento cheese, bacon & fried green tomatoes). Beer and cocktails were great. Service was excellent, but not at all rushed. We highly recommend this place.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Service slow as molasses. I had to track down our server via the hostess to get water for us. Food was dreadful—wings barely cooked and tasteless. Food was barely hot. Flatbread pizza not done in the middle. What takes the prize for the worst was the “Eastern NC BBQ”. I’m born and raised in ENC. What was presented looked like the contents of a grilled can of Alpo, and tasted about the same. With a red BBQ sauce. WTF.
Just wasted 2 hours at this place. We were a party of 5 at 7:30 on a Friday night. Our waitress was either brand new or just didn’t care about serving customers. Time from ordering to getting most of our food on the table, 90 minutes. Waitress was just about useless, only “checked” in on us twice and we sat there for about 30 minutes with empty drinks. Food was not as stated on menu. Most items were incomplete or incorrect. The “Pimento stuffed deviled eggs” app were literally sloppy deviled eggs with a scoop of pimento cheese in the middle of the plate. Really? Burgers were all over cooked and did not come with toppings stated in menu. Would NOT recommend this restaurant and we will never be back.
2 stars because I guess my waitress tried. Waiting a hour for fish, shrimps and fries, only fish and fries came out then waited 30 more minutes for my shrimp. Fish wasn't done at all! Atleast my mom enjoyed her salad.
Read all the reviews, but we like to occasionally give a lower rated restaurant a try just to see if they have improved. We loved it! Food was excellent, service was excellent, and the place is just cool. Beer selection next to none, and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
Sisters lunch was enjoyable. Our wait person was kind and efficient. She was having to handle a lot on her own, but took care of it all. Burgers were huge and very tasty and the taco Flatbread was delicious.
Tried to eat here before performing a show next door. Were told they could not seat us but we could order takeout because they were short-staffed. Fine. We ordered at 6:30 and were told it would take 30 minutes, then 45 minutes, then they forgot our order after 1.5 hours. Said they would bring it over next door after we waited 2 hours. Got the cold food, barely got to eat after 4 hours. We’re told they would refund half. Then told that they would refund it all. No refund was applied. I emailed the manager. No response. I called and recounted my situation and was told the manager would call me the next day. No call. This was three weeks ago. Called to talk to manager today and was told he was too busy and was hung up on. I am so understanding of challenges facing the service industry. I tip generously and am patient but this is ridiculous. Lie after lie. And to top it all off the sanitation rating is an 81!
I am not usually one to write a bad review (or a review at all for that matter) but the experience I had at Winslow's was terrible. I made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday for a party of 10. They got the reservation number wrong and only had a table for 8 people which they did fix quickly. The server took 10 minutes to get us our drinks and repeatedly asked if anyone wanted drinks from the bar (which we continuously said no since only one person at the table was over 21). I ordered the mozzarella sticks and they were cold (I know they come frozen, but they could at least reheat them so they are nice and hot). I ordered the strawberry salad with shrimp which honestly was not bad. It took 45 minutes for our food to come out though which was very annoying. I also had to flag down our waitress for more water when everyone's drinks were obviously empty. I brought a cake earlier that day as a surprise for my boyfriend and had called to make sure I could do so and told them it was a surprise. When we got there, I pulled the waitress aside and reminded her that it was a surprise and to light the candles and bring the cake when dinner was over. She proceeded to come up to our table when everyone was done with dinner and asked if the cake in the back was for us. As it was a surprise, my boyfriend said no and asked for all of the checks. I grabbed a manager and had him get me the cake and set it up and brought it out to our table myself. I had to find another server to get a knife and plates. Our server was no where to be found and took another 35 minutes to get us the checks. She took another 20 minutes to run all of the cards and get change (there were only 4 cards to run so it should not have taken 20 minutes). I am not impressed with winslow's whatsoever and do not recommend choosing them for a group gathering - they will disappoint you!
