my husband and I eat very frequently at the Village Tavern on Griffith Road in Winston-Salem. Everything is not always perfect but it’s always pretty doggone good. Today I took my family to the restaurant in Greensboro. It was absolutely horrible. The rolls that were served were hard as rocks. No pickle came with my burger. One of our guests ordered nachos. His nachos came out approximately 45 minutes after our meal. When I asked the reason we were told that he ordered the nachos without beans which is true and that the first time they made them they need them with beans. We were billed for the nachos. Because my mother was with us and she gets very embarrassed if we complain about anything I did not ask to speak to the manager nor should I have had to do that. No manager ever stopped by our table to ask about our meal At this trip to Greensboro however almost every meal I’ve ever had in Winston and manager has stopped by to ask how everything was. I’ll never go back to the Greensboro store if my family wants a decent meal they can come to Winston.
They lost my reservation for 7!! No effort made to help us out; No apologies. Hostess on the phone unable to understand my NC accent.
Visiting and Village Tavern was suggested as a good place to eat. Very crowded on a Saturday evening and we did not have reservations. The young man that was host seated us within 15 minutes - EXCEPTIONAL! Nadia was our server, and there isn't much better than this young lady. She was very knowledgeable on every dish and had many suggestions. The Crab Dip is outstanding as an appetizer. We definitely recommend the fish tacos and BBQ chicken flatbread pizza. Pizza is big for one person and very good. Definitely receive plenty of food. Although it was very busy, we were not rushed and had a relaxing meal with Nadia checking in to make sure we were okay. Highly recommend Village Tavern and ask for NADIA! We will return when we visit again.
Phenomenal.Have tried this place and Winston and there always on point. My lady and I always over order and like to split main dishes, VT always plates them up as splits for us and we love that.Point there is to notice my photos are split plates so the dishes are actually larger. My go to is the shrimp and grits and delmonico ribeye. The crab cakes will make you slap yourself silly too, yum!I don’t hand out 5 stars usually but this is ? hands up my favorite restaurant in the triad.
First experience - took sister in love there for her birthday and it was great. Food was fresh took a little long to get it out but overall cool vibe! For desserts butter cake and carrot cake- delicious and a great portion...well worth bucks!
We have eaten at Village Tavern often, as the crab deep is one of my absolute favorite things to eat! Recently we were looking for a new place for Sunday brunch after Church & I was delighted that they had a brunch menu. Their French toast was some of the best I have ever eaten! My oldest son and I were both happy with our order. My husband got the shrimp & grits and he also said it was good!( not the best he had ever eaten, but good) My youngest (who is seven) ordered the meatloaf and took a majority of it home, but I’ll blame that on the crab dip he devoured as an appetizer. I always love the ambiance and the staff is always knowledgeable of the menu & friendly. My only complaint with the brunch is their lack of a non pork option for breakfast meats. Other then that I can’t wait to go again for brunch!
Brunch is excellent
I met a friend here last week for Sunday brunch. I have not been here since the pandemic so we decided to give it a try. The waitress was very attentive while attending to several other tables. I think a she forgot to grab our food when it was up so someone else brought it out. I have eaten here several times and not once have I ever had a complaint but this time our food was not fresh. We both ordered chicken and waffles and it tasted like ut had sat under warmer lights. When told this the waitress offered to heat it up in the microwave. I declined...who wants reheated waffles.Just another example of restaurant workers stretched thin.
We live about an hour and a half from this restaurant so don't get to the area as often as we would like. When we do, this is our go to place for excellent food, fantastic wine list and wonderful atmosphere and service. We were there on a Sunday, it was packed and the servers were slammed. We STILL had great service and the food was amazing.
We love to come here for a nice lunch on their spacious patio. The weather we are having is too good to be missed. Our server was Katherine (Katie) and she was a real gem! She knew the menu, she kept our water glasses full and she was quick with my vodka mojito and Hub’s Bud Light. We started with the gulf fried oysters and let me tell you, they are superb! They are so consistent, they are cooked just enough that they are crisp on the outside but so tender on the inside. The first time I decided to try fried oysters, in my life, was here, in September and I will not order them anywhere else. They are so good and even though we had placed our lunch order, we ordered another serving of oysters. Guess what? Katie still timed out our food so we got to enjoy most of our second batch before our entrees came out. Hubs got the Greek salad with blackened salmon and it was cooked to perfection, it melted in his mouth like butter. I’ve had the filet mignon tacos before and they were fantastic. So today, I was torn between those and the fire cracker shrimp tacos. Katie said the shrimp has a mango slaw that is awesome. She was not kidding! They look a little pink because of the Thai chili sauce. The sweet and cooling mango slaw was a great addition. They lightly grill the tortilla so it doesn’t get soggy and fall apart. Pricey? Maybe. Worth it! Absolutely. We will be back and we’ll ask for Katie.
