Every time I fly into Greensboro grab the rental & next stop is Stameys ! The staff is welcoming, service attentive and the food comforting , & The Cobbler !!!!!!
I love Stamey's. Been enjoying family meals there since I was a kid. I was very disappointed with the puppies they were so DRY. My BBQ salad was good and the ranch was very tasty. I will come back sometime. Hopefully the hush puppies were just having an off night and will be much better next time.
Very nice staff. I suppose customer service is why they have good reviews. Maybe at some point in history the food was good. Not now. I had the BBQ Chicken and chopped pork combo, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. The baked beans were okay but they were a bit too sweet and a bit over cooked. The next best thing was the Mac and cheese and it was nothing to write home about. The noodles were over cooked in my opinion and you can get better from a grocery store box of Mac and cheese. Then was the pulled pork...I have nothing bad to say other than that it was edible but not memorable. The BBQ chicken. I can't remember having worse BBQ chicken. It tastes like they baked it (over-baked it at that) instead of putting it on a BBQ grill. For one thing, it was dry (wing/breast quarter). Lastly, the BBQ sauce (seemed to be cheap store brand) was just poured on top of what seems like over baked chicken. I'd be shocked if this is not the worst BBQ in North Carolina!
We were recommended this restaurant by some locals. It was a disappointment. The pork was a bit tough and barely warm. The mac and cheese noodles were way overcooked and had turned very mushy, and the flavor was pretty generic. I had hoped for the chicken skin to be a little more crispy, but it seemed almost like raw chicken skin. We did like the hush puppies, but that and the BBQ sauce was about where it ended for us. Our server was kind, but she seemed like she had overdone it for the day. Our initial conversation went like this:Server (walked right up and no smile): "Are you doing okay?"Us: "Yes, how are you today?"Server (staring slightly downward): "I'm okay. What can I get for you?"With such a long tradition of family BBQ, we were left wanting.
First stop whenever I pass through North Carolina. Love it! Speedy service too!
Wasn't super impressed by the food but service was great and more than made up for what the food lacked.
Drive thru was quick and friendly! Slaw is great, tomato based with a hint of horseradish? Pulled pork is great as usual.
I've loved Stamey's Barbecue since I was a little kid. The accommodation is great for families as they have ample seating and the staff is very attentive. They're signature barbecue sandwich with red slaw is always a delight to the taste buds and their hush puppies are always cooked to perfection. They also offer chicken barbecue, hot dogs and baked chicken, greens, beans and fries. Southern slow cooking at its finest. A Greensboro Staple.
Service was good. Food was so-so. Not the worst meal I’ve had. Not worth coming back for. Menu was small, which I can appreciate if you do several things very well. I ordered the chopped-Q salad. Hush puppies were good. Chicken was dry, didn’t taste smoked or like bbq chicken. More like it was baked. Big bowl of iceberg lettuce, sprinkle of cheese, tomatoes and chicken.Rest of family’s meal was mediocre.
