We went to go get a Smoothie came out with cupcakes and cake ? from this establishment right next door from Smoothie King! Also the Twins birthday cake was purchased from here also who knew!
Their cupcakes are so good and looks very nice. Staff was really friendly and quick with boxing our order. Will be coming again!
I lived in the West Coast and was looking for a bakery to get a cake for a bday celebration for family in Greensboro. I could have gone to the local grocery store but I wanted a more presentable cake. Found Maxie B's so decided to go for it. Ordered the night before for next day pick up. My Aunt B went to pick it up the next day. She sent me a picture and she said I hope you didn't pay too much for it cuz it was very plain. I saw the pic and it was very plain, it just had the writing on top which they kept on saying was free and included. I didn't expect much decoration really - just something more than just plain nothingness - on the side. I called and asked them if they can add something anything as it looks very plain - they kept on saying there's writing and there's a border on top and basically said that's what I get for $64, I asked to talked to a Mgr and she said sure bring it back and will add something. Great my Aunt was just waiting outside the shop and I requested her to go back in. She was told that they can add decorations for $20 more but that will take 2-3 hours as they had a back log. My AuntB called me right away and I said that's not what the Mgr told me. And really? I'm not a professional baker but I've decorated cakes before, you can pretty much add 5 dots around the cake and that will not take 2 or 3 hours and that's a decoration. You can add 3 ok 1 line of anything and that's a decoration, but nothing on the side is plain nothing. They held firm and didn't seem to want to do anything. I'm sorry but it just really looked plain. And is that what you want people to see and remember your cake by? So when I show it to someone and they asked where did you get that plain cake - I got it from Maxie B's. :( It was very frustrating and disappointing.
The Devil's Food cake was fantastic. The cake was moist and flavorful. The frosting was very rich and they used a generous amount of it. I think the nine-inch cake we got weighed at least five or six pounds!The only thing keeping my experience with Maxie B's from being five stars was the curbside ordering and pickup Covid precautions, and the workers wearing masks outside nonsense. The next time I need a cake I'm most likely going to patronize a business that is not afraid to let me in the door.
Coming from a non cake eater they literally have the best cakes I have ever tried in my life. I ordered from states away and the cake arrived timely, fresh and tasted just like grandma pulled it fresh from the oven!! Highly recommended near and far!
I love the chocolate/ chocolate cake, but can't eat it very often because it is RICH and $$$$. Worth it for a special occasion!
The best bakery in town! Everything I have ordered from here has been amazing, but the Italian cream cake is my favorite. The curbside pickup is always quick and the staff is super friendly.

The customer service is good but I’m rating this review based on the presentation of what I was given in the box. The cupcake box I received wasn’t even stable enough for the cupcakes to sit still and messed up as I was driving and I noticed once I reached home that they gave me a burnt pumpkin cupcake. If I’m paying this much for 6 cupcakes they need to be sure that the cupcakes don’t mess up and should get cupcake holders like just a spot to hold them tighter. The cupcake box should at least be nicer looking considering how much the costumers are paying which is a lot for the cupcakes! Not sure how fresh the cupcakes are they made them really fast as soon I finished ordering them.
The Maxie B's (Online Order/Pick-Up Edition). I used to live in Greensboro and frequented Maxie B's all the time. So while visiting the area, I knew that I would stop before leaving. So I placed an order online for a slice of their Fresh Strawberry Buttercream Cake. This cake has fresh strawberries tucked in between layers of the cake. I also ordered a piece of their Pink Lemonade Cake. This cake comes with light lemon buttercream and sparkling sugar crystals.The online system provided a five to ten minute wait time, and before I knew it, I received a message that my order was ready. Upon arriving, I glared into the window at a place once filled with cakes, now reduced to plastic containers filled with cake. Moreover, I was somewhat confused about what line to stand in but realized two separate lines. Finally, I got in the correct line for pick up, gave my name, and received my cake in under two minutes for the total pick-up experience.Once home, I enjoyed the strawberry buttercream cake. The strawberries were so fresh. The buttercream icing was as good as I remembered, and the taste was phenomenal. The Pink Lemonade cake was outstanding, and the sugar crystals in the icing are a nice added touch. So would I go back to Maxie B's again? Of course, I would go back. The cakes taste great! The online pick-up is easy, convenient, and perfect for a fast in and out experience.
