Jake's was not at all what I was expecting. At first I did not know where to sit but finally found a booth that was open. There were many pool tables and a Long Bar. And there was quite a different mix of people Milling about. Today they had a special on tacos which I took advantage of. I ordered a traditional Taco with chicken and a Baja Taco with chicken. I must say they were probably the best tacos that I have ever had. I believe they're called street tacos and they were so flavorful and for a bargain price. And I ordered chips and salsa as a side and the chips tasted like they had just been cooked and we're so fresh and nicely salted. I did not get very much salsa but I know the remedy for that next time. Because there will be a next time. My service was very friendly and I'm glad I went there.
I had a burger and fries and my mom a Cobb shrimp salad, and we both enjoyed our meal. I wish I had taken some pic. My margarita just needed to be a bit stronger. However, the outside sitting I enjoyed.
This has been one of my favorite bars in the Boro for the last decade. Nice daily specials, great diverse crowds, and food that smacks! Wish they could keep the Chicken Wontons and Shredded cheese fries on the menu no matter what though....
The environment is a good vibe just a lot of young adults. The food is good and servers are friendly. The only hiccup is having to wait to get in. 5 leave only let's 1-2 people in. The ratio is a bit off. Other than that it's a chill spot.
Told to sit down and someone would take our order. What a joke. You’ll see in the picture all the staff and an empty restaurant. Classic bad management.
If you are looking for a place to play pool Jake's has nice tables and a great beer selection. The food is standard "bar food" but I would say it is above average. There is a nice patio and a good amount of parking in the back. Where this establishment falls short is the service. I was here in the early afternoon and it wasn't that busy. Our server didn't offer us a drink menu and rarely checked on us. I ran out of water before my entree and no one ever offered to refill the water. I had to flag down a different server just to get water. They also "require" you to tip 15% or you will vet "banned". Maybe they should just try paying their employees livable wages? If you want to be ignored go here.
Had a couples dinner this past Sunday and it was my first time at Jake’s and I really had a blast. They have ping pong, darts, pool and it was a very nice laid back type of vibe. Also the food was yummy, I would recommend the mozzarella sticks, tenders, and sweet tea. I would definitely come back just to try again ping pong and darts and to try their Philly cheesesteaks. Great place, fun and chill vibes
Food was good and filling. Adequate servings for good prices. Drinks are reasonably priced as well, and they ID you before coming in, which is helpful. A nice variety of places you can sit, the decor is interesting too. Also, there are funny dogs painted on the bathroom doors in place of gender signs, lol.
You want good service and food? Go somewhere else. Being ignored and getting your order wrong more than three times on different occasions is what you will find here. Pool table is cool. They have a rule where you need to tip more than 15% or you’ll get banned. 15% tip is way too generous for watered down beer and food that you didn’t order. Downtown Greensboro is 5 minutes down the road and has far better restaurants.
Awful! They REQUIRE you tip a minimum 15% or you’ll be banned instead of paying their staff responsible wages! They have signs up saying tipping is required or you’ll be banned but it doesn’t specify how much is required. Why not just charge gratuity instead of expecting people to know you required them to tip 15% for every drink and item ordered. Music selection even the jukebox is all white artist across multiple genre… that’s definitely not ok. Multiple people have stated they are racist and have experienced some level or discrimination here.
