The meat/fish & yams: A1! Mac&cheese: good, but not amazing. Greens: good, just sweet FYI. Cornbread was eh the 1st time but good the 2nd! The only major miss was the cabbage.. way too sweet. Their coleslaw might be fine for some but it’s the minced/mushy kind, not a fan. I’d definitely go back & try other things though, especially their unique seasoned wings & lemonade. Environment is cozy+artful (esp. the little book store!). No staff were outright rude, but some were def. more polite than others. So I rounded their real 4.5 up to 5.
my husband heard about this place today and wanted to try it out right away. we went for date night tonight and we were not at all disappointed. very inviting... upon entering the restaurant, the various cultural items and books on display, as well as the paintings on the wall was a very nice touch. to me there was an old school feel because of the music that was playing and of course my husband noticed an old NBA championship series on TV. i think it was an all around wonderful dining experience. we will definitely go back and we highly recommend this place. the couple in the booth next to us turned and asked what we thought. they said this was their first time eating here. we said it was ours as well. they said they really enjoyed it.oh yeah! btw the food was awesome. we don't eat pork and the veggies are vegan based. good food, nice quiet ambiance, excellent service, very friendly staff.
Me and my husband were in Greensboro visiting a friend (we live in Martinsville VA) and she had mentioned Ben's Boyz previously. We decided to go try it out. The food was absolutely great! When we got back to Martinsville my husband was still talking about it. We both ordered wings, and I got collards and potato salad as my sides, he got Cole slaw and fries. He said these are the best wings and really raved over the corn bread (he loves Jiffy mix so this was a hit for him). I totally agreed. My only complaint would be the collards were sweet. Some people like it like that so I cannot make it an issue. I also tasted my friend's fish and it was delicious. Definitely will be back. I read some of the reviews and since this is a very popular busy place, some issues are to be expected. I am sure they are doing the best they can. Sometimes we have to walk in others shoes to know what it is like.
I had seen this restaurant a few times while I was in the friendly sensor and it spark my curiosity. I mentioned it to my friend and he said the food was really good so I finally ventured out and decided to try it for lunch. I order broasted chicken, okra and sweet potatoes. It also came with a side of cornbread. My food was really good; the chicken fell off the bone my potatoes were just right and the okra was crispy.I came back this week on Monday and they were CLOSED. I was so SICK. I’m looking forward to going back.
Wow! The food is just like home! Everything was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend checking out the desserts, as well. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is also excellent. Check out the area at the front with various items for sale!
Alright here in Greensboro it’s been so much hype about this place so I had to try it out. I ended up ordering a grilled chicken platter with 2 sides and a roll. My sides included Mac & cheese and green beans. The chicken has a glaze on top and it had a nice flavor but was dry! It was more meat than sides and my Mac didn’t have a binding agent it lacked soul! I was so disappointed because I’ve read many reviews that spoke highly of the Mac but it lacked! Not sure if they have different cooks but the same recipe should be used daily. The green beans needed a little more love too. BUTTT the desserts was AMAZING the person that baked those desserts put love into it! We tried the Oreo cake & the honeybun cake! Both absolutely delicious 10 out of 10 highly recommend! Also the drinks had me in love from the first sip we had strawberry lemonade and pineapple lemonade OMG so refreshing and so good! I would skip the food and just get desserts and a drink if I return!
My friends and I ate at BensBoyz for the 1st time and both the food and the atmosphere were AMAZING! The best Southern Cooking. I had the Salmon with collard greens and yams with a slice of pineapple coconut cake. I had some amazing strawberry lemonade to wash it down.I will definitely be dining in and ordering take out in the near future. BensBoyz also has a private seating area in the back of the restaurant that can be used for business meetings and other gatherings of up to 45 people.Support this spot, you will not be disappointed!

First time eating here & it did not disappoint! I had the grilled chicken which was amazing! Tasted like it came right off your grill outside. I also had the mac & cheese, green beans, and corn bread. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend!! Oh and the BEST SWEET TEA EVERRRRR HANDS DOWN!!!
Great clean eating. I had broasted chicken wings and they were fall off the bone delicious. The bottled lemonade and tea is banging!! Vegetables are country cooked in a healthy manner without meat.
