The food was incredible! I am a seafood lover. We came because I had a craving for BBQ but the seafood choices made me put that craving aside. I enjoyed eating 2 kinds of fish, scallops, shrimp, and clams from the buffet. Yum Yum Yummy! And the BBQ and side dishes that I left a little room for were delicious, also.
Plenty of food! Plenty of Iced Tea! Plenty of staff to keep it coming! If you want steak & baked potato don't go here...but that's about the only thing not on the buffet. I really enjoyed it...the folks do it well. I had Bannana Pudding for desert, others had Blueberry Cobler with Ice Cream. We ate & drank all we wanted and had a wonderful Sunday dinner after church. Good place & good experience today.
The food came out barely warm especially the barbecue chicken. It was cold and the sauce had way too much vinegar in it. The other food was ok. I guess the server didn't believe us when we said the food wasn't hot so she got the manager who tried to tell us their procedure for keeping the food hot which didn't change the fact that our food was luke warm at best. It could have just sat too long before it was brought to the table. This is a buffet restaurant and we ordered off the menu. The corn bread and the fried chicken were hot. They switched out my barbecue chicken for fried.
Great southern food buffet spot. Everything seemed to cooked in that great southern love. I had a little bit of everything but the BBQ and chicken pot pie were among my favorites. The waitress never let my cup get halfway empty and kept up with my coworker and I. The dessert was amazing as well, defintley easy to put some plates away here!
Serves NC vinegar based barbecue. Serves seafood. The day I went, McCall's didn't have fries at the buffet. I'm a french fry person. BBQ chicken and fried chicken is good. Sometimes the BBQ can be too greasy and too vinegary. Buffet contains salad options, southern styled vegetables, BBQ, fried and BBQ chicken ( BBQ sauce on chicken is vinegar based too), trout, shrimp, and flounder, dessert options, and bread options. If you take out, check your bag before you leave the premises to make sure your order is correct.
Used to love this place and went regularly, for years, when I lived in Goldsboro with barely an issue in a hundred+ trips over ~9 years. In the past ~12 months I’ve been 3 times when I passed through on the way back from the coast, and each time there has been something missing or just sorry service. Tonight I placed a very simple order at 7:21. Got to the drive-through, paid, and she told me to pull forward. Sat for ~35 minutes and around 7:55, I get out to try to get my order before they close. They had already locked the doors and the two young ladies still there seemed annoyed that I had knocked. Glad that I did because I would have been sitting there still. Add to that the 3 lbs of barbecue was room temperature/cold when I got to the car. To put it in perspective I can make it back to Raleigh with it still very warm, usually.I buy in bulk and freeze, but since it was already cold when I got it, I had no idea how long it had been sitting there at room temperature already and They were closed so I couldn’t ask. Naturally, it had to be tossed. I hate to waste food like that, but better to waste $42 than to spend a day (or more) out of work sick because folks gave you food that has been sitting out. I guess that if you don’t pay the suggested 15-25% tip (at the drive-through window) or they don’t like the looks of you, you can forget decent service. An expensive lesson, but I just have to accept that McCalls just isn’t what it used to be. This was my last trip.
I was shorted a couple of times & let it slide. Then I was shorted $13 & then last week $10. Today. (?) I made my order at the drive thru at 4:57. It is now 5:55 & they are clueless of why it has not been brought to me. ??? Food is good if you get it… management obviously doesn’t care
Great place for dinner. BBQ is always good, not heavily smoked but just right. You can order off a menu here or go for the buffet. Fresh salads, vegetables, BBQ, ribs, shrimp (fried "Calabash" style) and oysters are just a small sample of available items. Deserts are good too. Family friendly.
"Lord Have Mercy"is absolutely all so correct ? is what you will say when you taste the delicious food here. The food was extremely good!!!The staff were awesome as well! Great service and very pleasant! Looking for Soul Food & BBQ, this is definitely your place! A must try if you haven't already! ?Thank you to all the staff !!! ❤️
Great selection of food on the buffet and the flavors were on point. I recommend for anyone with a big appetite and on a limited budget
