Best Mexican restaurant on Gastonia
Gastonia is three for three! So many good restaurants in a tiny town! The Good: I wasn’t hungry and really wanted to try the birria tacos but I ordered one Chorizo street taco and a side of plantains. I really loved both! The taco was obviously authentic with its homemade, fluffy corn tortilla, wonderfully seasoned chorizo, and topped with cilantro and onion. Our waitress was VERY sweet and attentive and brought our desired salsas from the salsa bar. I asked for their spiciest, which was a habañero salsa, and it was really tasty but could’ve been spicier hehe. Their chips and salsa weren’t free but were really good! The Meh: our table and bench seating area was partially clean with the portion closest to the wall still with old food debris. Didn’t love it but at least their sanitation score is high and hopefully accurately reflects how food is handled haha. My friend ordered a shrimp bowl that was drowned in cheese. She liked the flavors but we all agreed there was an overload of queso…almost looked like Mac and cheese. The Bad: nada - if you’re looking for tasty, authentic Mexican, you should go here!
We had to wait at an empty register for what felt like an eternity. Tables inside were dirty with seemingly no one in charge of cleaning them. The street tacos were bland. Service was friendly, quesadilla was good. 100% sanitation score. May have just been an off visit, but as a first time diner I was unimpressed.Edit: 2022 update. Much better experience this time. Chips and salsa weren't free but they tasted like something worth paying for. Lux guacamole was terrific although the bagel chips were way too hard for our liking. Make sure you ask for the extra things you want on the burrito otherwise it will just be meat, rice and beans. Mixed drinks/margaritas were pretty good. Bumping up 2 stars. Outside seating is great.
This was our first time here, my family and I wanted to try out a Mexican restaurant here in Gastonia since we typically go to Charlotte for Mexican food. We looked up a few restaurants and this one caught my attention. So we went here for our son’s birthday on May 5th and the food was amazingly delicious! From the service, to the food and the reviews definitely worth it.
Hosted a recent event here. Upstairs facility was just perfect for our event. We hosted maybe 35 and could have easily accommodated twice that. The food and staff were great. There was also plenty parking to accommodate guess on a Sat midday. I would recommend this place to others for an event venue.
Walked in on a Friday night. Ordered a fish burrito. Probably the best burrito I've had since moving from New Mexico. Flavorful and balanced. Also had a Lengue taco, which was good. Spicy margarita to wash it down. Would HIGHLY recommend grabbing a meal here in downtown Gas Town
Awesome food great service
The host tried to take us to the back of the restaurant, even though there were many sits in the front. I order 2 tostada which had little meat and beans on it. My children orders bowls which the same lack of meat. I was expecting a tasty meal, but got a bland snack. Margarita was salty and just like I thought " lite" I needed an adult drink, but got punch.
The best Mexican food ever. It taste fresh. The selecting of cheese dips And the guacamole. Delicious.
Fish Tacos ? are very delicious!! Constant flavor everytime ordered.
