Got to the location we were told a 20 min wait. 45 mins later we were able to order. Pickled frys were awesome when they came out about an hour later we were told 20 mins more for the main food. decided to cut our losses then.
This review would have been a lot different in the past as we enjoyed staying local and we were excited about the new location; however the past few times we have tried Simple Twist the service has been terrible. The food has stayed decent but long waits for drinks, food, and service have made the overall experience more than subpar. Continuing to use staffing as an excuse would be understandable except our past few experiences has had multiple hosts/hostesses standing around not doing anything. They may have assignments and indeed be “working” however our perception watching from the dining room the past few times have been they are standing around, playing around, or busy looking at their phone. These staff could/should be cross trained to assist in some areas of the dining area to help relieve some of the “staffing” issues so that we’re not waiting so very long for a refill on water and silverware. If things stay on this pace I certainly don’t see Simple Twist at 40/42 continuing to stay successful or even remain open, which is a shame considering the great new location and the history of a good local place.
Overall the meal was ok and the service was pleasant. The food tasted fine, but you do not get a lot of food for the amount of money that you pay. I ordered the pickle chips as an appetizer for 4 of us and it would barely be a bite for one. $8 is a lot of money for 15 fried hamburger pickles. I got a Hamburger and fries and it was an average hamburger and fries, nothing to write home about. Has the potential to be good but they need to tweak a few things in order to make this place worth staying around.
We had the shrimp and grits tonight and they were delicious. By far the best I’ve had in North Carolina. I judge according to my first time I had them in Oxford Mississippi; I have been disappointed every time I’ve tried other places until today. They had so much flavor I was amazed and grateful I found this place. We were pleased with everything we had there.
They have a great menu. It was difficult to choose from all the options. The Krab dip and the Simple Twist burger were delicious. Bananas Foster Cheesecake was a great ending to a dinner.
Had the Shrimp n' Grits. Very good. Had this like lemon-butter cream sauce with bacon and mushrooms on it. The service was expedient and cordial. Cool wood tables. Little loud but some people are into that. Decent place.
Do not come here for the pickle chips! This is what $8 gets you at Simple Twist. HOWEVER, the burgers absolutely redeemed this faux pas. I would definitely go back for the burger. I only have this one pic as I thought this review was going to be way worse based on the pickle chips.
Ordered take out last night: pollos hermanos, kale ceaser with salmon and wake n bacon burger. The chicken was so rubbery it made a crunching sound when biting into it. It was inedible. The burger seemed like a grocery store pre made patty and the bacon was just crumbles from the pre made salad aisle. Not real strips. The salmon seemed as if it was cooked hours earlier and reheated multiple times to brick like perfection. Been to the location in Smithfield multiple times and enjoyed it. Last visit here was meh. This visit solidified we will never dine here again.
went for mother's day brunch this morning. They were short staffed like most places these days, but our service was excellent and the food was delicious! You could tell they were all working together.
The atmosphere was nice and the servers were fantastic! The crb dip was amazing and the side salad is “huge”. Don’t order one unless you’re really hungry! Great time and great food!
