Placed online order on 5/15/22 @ 6:59 pm anticipating pickup @ 7:23 per my emailed receiptArrived @ 7:30 & was greeted by a departing employee in the parking lot who stated the restaurant was closed.I indicated I was here for a pickup order & she waved me thru to the restaurant. As I had requested curbside delivery due to my mobility issues, I attempted to call the restaurant several times over the next few minutes . There was no answer or store recording. The automated “try your call later” announcement then terminated the call. After flashing my lights & honking my horn repeatedly, I finally got the attention of an exiting patron & requested he return inside & inform an employee that I was waiting outside for my curbside pickup order. In short order, an employee came out to the car checked my receipt & stated they usually don’t do curbside & proceeded to retrieve my order from insideOf note: the restaurant is usually open till 10 pm.However, on Sunday, they may close early & suggest you call first!I trust someone will be “standing by the phones”as they used to say!!!Finally, the broiled sea scallops were plentiful, nicely seasoned & otherwise, just GREAT!!!
Over the past 4 years of visiting Elizabeth City, I have eaten at the City Grille several times. Our volleyball team (27 of us) even ate here during playoffs a couple years ago. I have never been disappointed in the food nor prices. Getting seated is sometimes a little lackluster in effort. But, once you're seated, the wait staff is excellent. The food portions are ample and the taste is delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to go back anytime we are visiting EC in the future.
Called, placed our order, arrived to pickup, there was a pickup lane, saw 2 cars parked in that lane, we parked in front of the restaurant in a parking spot, called, they said our food will be ready in 5 minutes, we went inside to pickup our food and did not have to wait when we went inside to pickup our food. We saw someone else outside waiting for us which was also parked in the pickup lane or line. Food was good.
Wish I could share a picture but the food is gone!My wife and I are FOODIES from NYC. The SEAFOOD is a must: FRESH, TEXTURELY-ON-POINT, PLEASANTLY SEASONED, & again FRESH FRESH FRESH! Calimari was the best I've had compared to many Excellent Italian restaurants in NYC. Flounder tender and excellently cooked, with Healthy portion size for the fish. The cabbage was a go to as it was really well cooked and seasoned. Hush puppies tasted like really good "festivals" from Jamaican cuisine but better.Lastly the server Chloe could train others on how to provide excellent customer service.City Grille, keep up the great service and quality, in Jesus' name!
Ordered a Bacon cheeseburger w/no pink. Asked for provolone cheese. Received burger with cheddar or American cheese (not sure since I wasn’t able to eat it). Inside was not just pink, it was down right red. When we were finally able to get our server’s attention my husband was finished with his meal. So I asked to have it removed from our ticket saying I would pay for the fries I ate. She said “you should have reported it to your server sooner” so they could cook it up further. She left saying she had to get someone else to remove it from our ticket. While waiting I finished my drink and needed a refill. Again unable to get her attention to request a refill. My husband finally went up front to request 2 drinks to go. He was told to go refills would be $.50. When you pay over $2.50 for 1 glass of Pepsi, can’t get server’s attention to get a refill while sitting, it’s ridiculous to have to pay $.50 for “the cup”. Asked to speak with manager on the way out. That got us nowhere. He said he sent me “the wrong burger” and he took that charge off. When I explained about not being able to get a refill, he said he had to pay for the cups and had to pass that charge on to me. I would have thought the $2.50+ I was charged for the 1 glass would more than cover a carry out cup! We drove an hour to eat here!! But I’ve learned my lesson, we won’t be back. Passed a lot of other places that I’m sure will be happy to take my money. I certainly don’t give my recommendation to City Grille!
We found brillo in our pulled pork, the pork chops and mashed potatoes were dry. It was the worst food I have ever tried to eat.
Just moved to elizabeth city driving in.area and seen this grill was always busy tried it today it was awesome!!!! The food is made from scratch and the cheesecake is to die for our waitress was chole wonderful beautiful smile and personality will definitely be back again
I love their chicken livers and beef liver with onions. The three piece fried chicken meal is a good price and quite juicy and delicious! ?
We were there as a group. One person in group wanted hi cheese burger on toasted bread instead of a bun. It was refused and no one could alter their order in anyway. Customer should always be right within reason.
The food was bad order shrimp and baked potato and salad the salad was more core then salad potatoe was cold
