What can we say the oxtail stew was AMAZING and fell off the bone with a fork. Dessert tasted good according to my family (wish they had a gluten-free option)! Definitely going back!
High expectations not achieved. Very poor service despite not being especially crowded. Interesting flavors, but not very subtle. Open kitchen smoke around all the time..
Amazing dining experience. Service was amazing. They let us try 4 of the side items before ordering. They also explained how to order from the menu.Main course was the ox tails. Very tender and tasty.We order alot of food but should have ordered a platter.
Absolutely loved this place so much that I'm sitting in the parking lot writing this review. Firstly, the food was incredible. We had the shrimp kebobs to start. Jumbo shrimp well seasoned and paired with tomato and red onion. I had the dovi tofu, my sister had the piri piri chicken with collards and the sadza. All of it was amazing. We also tried the magwinyas -both stuffed and sweet and they were amazing. They also made some sweet potato samosas last minute fresh for us. We had the honor of meeting the owner who was so kind. We had the sweetest server (Yolanda I believe?) and she was so charming and provided wonderful service. We are so glad we came here and we're looking forward to returning!

I really wanted to have great things to say about this restaurant and I hope others have a different experience. I ordered veggie samosas and shrimp kabobs. My samosas were very overcooked, almost burnt, and it took over an hour for me to get my kabobs. When I got them they were so spicy I could barely eat them. The waitress took 10% off my bill because of it. Another person in my party just asked for a to go box because it took so long. Others with me did seem to enjoy the oxtails though and the waitress let us sample a few of the sides before ordering.
Traveling back to Charlotte, NC from Richmond, VA, I decided to get on TikTok to see what’s good to eat in Durham. After coming across Zweli’s, we immediately wanted to try it, especially since neither of us have tried Zimbabwean food before. From the exceptional service, GREAT food, atmosphere & such a friendly family & staff, we were extremely pleased! We both got the oxtails, jollof rice, & chakalaka. Ask for Yolanda when you go, you won’t be disappointed!
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while! The owners and servers are the kindest people. The food is flavorful and filling. I have only good things to say!! Whether from the Triangle or passing though, this place is a must-try!
Absolutely delicious! We had the oxtail, sausage, rice, and chakalaka and they were all so good. Felt like we were served a home cooked meal! Highly recommend.
We had a very nice experience at Zwelis, good food and friendly kind people, and fresh lemonade is great, they mean it!
