First and last time ordering here..We have never eaten at a Zaxbys before so we decided to give it a try. The person who was taking our order seemed impatient. We pulled to the drive thru window and was told could we wait for 3 minutes for fresh fries ( See pictures). We arrived home to eat and found the fries were not hot at all and were doused with salt!!!
Let me start off by explaining that I do not like the food and I only come here for my kids who do love the food. As the driver, I HATE waiting in drive thru line 15-20 minutes before getting to the menu. The store is always short staffed so the dining room is closed. One compliment is the 2 staff we interacted with were courteous and their food was hot. What is up with no sauce though?
I'd like to preface this review by saying that I try to be understanding of understaffed (2 workers, only allowing takeout and delivery) restaurants, but there's only so much slack you can give. I ordered my standard 5 finger chicken finger plate with nuclear sauce instead of Zax sauce and toast instead of coleslaw. After being asked if I want my fingers tossed in nuclear or to have it on the side (side since I ordered the chicken finger plate and not the menu item that has them tossed), I patiently waited for my order to be completed. When I checked my order for correctness, I noticed that while I did get the nuclear sauce, I also got some Zax sauce and ranch for some reason (no big deal), but was missing a chicken finger and a piece of toast. After I received my missing items, I also noticed that the food I had already been given wasn't even lukewarm, but closer to room temperature (as if it had just been sitting out and not even under a heat lamp). The toast was the same temperature and closer in consistency and texture to a crouton rather than the standard Texas toast. The new items were hot, so the extra sauce, missing items, and present but room temperature items makes me think that this was someone else's order that hadn't been picked up and was just sitting out. Honestly, the worst experience I've had at a Zaxby's and I would recommend just going to a different location altogether.
I get this place everytime I visit North Carolina because it's the best fast food chicken place I've been to. Better than canes and also it doesn't make me sick like raising cane's does. The Zaxby's sauce is amazing and their chicken is so juicy it literally squirts juice when you bite down on it. It's always hot and fresh too. Buns are buttery and melt into your mouth. Chicken is crispy and delicious ?.
Today is my 3rd time having this food. All I can say is WOW!! Ok not in a good way. The quality of food down here is sad. The red states for sure are the poorest states. Ordered 5 piece all three times and have literally seen the size of strips diminsh/ disappear, but paying the same high price. Check it out thick Texas toast??? ??? NOT! It's a regular piece of bread; not even Sara Lee or Wonder bread! The chicken strips look more like pigeon strips. Matter of fact the whole meal looks like a kids meal. Down south sucks in every way. Such a rip off. Should be renamed Zaxby's chicken pinkies. Terrible NC Time to jet back up North for great quantity and optional choices of real food. Today thumbs down!!!
They put a chicken WING, not finger, on my sandwich. Wings have bones. I bit into a bone!Smaller things compared to them trying to crack my teeth by purposely putting bones in my sandwich - Took 15 extra minutes than what the app listed for the food to be done after I went in to get it. They didn't include the sauce I ordered.I will be contacting the news about them putting bones into my sandwich

This was a pretty wild experience. If it could go wrong, it did. Where to start.First, this place looks awesome. Way different from some of the other local Zaxby’s. However, the lobby was filthy despite there not being another person there. The staff taking the order was unfriendly and incompetent. He got irritated that we didn’t understand his mumbled “sauce..?” after we’d told him during the ordering process which we’d wanted.Drink machine’s ice didn’t work. Ice machine’s ice didn’t work. Got ice from behind the counter, then the drink machine’s drinks were completely flat, and the water coming out of it was room temperature. Got plain water from behind the counter because they didn’t have a full selection of drinks back there. While this was going on, watched the manager take a break from her phone long enough to explain to someone on the crew how to cut toast in half. It seemed like a process.Waited 18 minutes for food, according to the receipt. They lost half our order and hadn’t made it. Turned out the toast she was teaching him to cut had been ours as it was cold and, somehow, underdone. Boneless wings were drenched in sauce, fries had no salt and were over cooked to the point you could have used them as kindle. We had to go back up again to ask for cutlery.Men’s room is out of order. I’m watching a fight between staff members on the floor as we speak. We paid $40 for this. All I can do is laugh.
The food is good. That said, a consistent 15-20 minute wait in a short drive thru line is ridiculous. If it was only once or twice.....okay, but it's literally always.
Doors stay locked after posted open hours. Trashcan blocked the drive through.
