Good authentic Indian food. Looking forward to my next visit.
Hands down the best Indian I've had since leaving the UK 3 years ago. It's as good as the Indian in the UK for sureI've tried allot of curry across several states and they just don't cut itIf I lived in NC I would be here all the time!Definitely worth a visit if your in the area and great curry is your thing ?
We took a chance of getting a table here on a Su day after a show at DPAC and we are so glad we did. The atmosphere was nothing short of incredible and the food was even better. I left it up to our server to tell me what to order and her suggestion was phenomenal. Definitely make a reservation if you can but if you aren’t able to, take a chance and see what they can do for you!
The food was absolutely delicious and our waitress fantastic. We were in Durham for my son’s wedding. The newlyweds insisted we eat at the Viceroy one night because “they serve the best Indian food in the US!” I now understand. Thank you!
Very cool atmosphere. The front is a nice British pub, and it transitions into a very hip Indian look. The food was exceptional. We got 2 apps and 4 entres to share, and each item was beyond reproach. The cocktails are very interesting. They had non alcoholic cocktails that were very refreshing.
This is a top drawer Indian restaurant. The spices are a delight and there is a brilliant fusion of Indian flavours with British classics. You won't find this in Britain. Try the curried sausage rolls. I recommend it highly and cannot wait to return. Thank you Vijay.
My dining experience at Viceroy was a fantastic unexpected surprise. We were in Durham trying to grab dinner somewhere before a show at DPAC and came across Viceroy on a Sunday. A few things to note here before I get into the food: 1) We had walked past a few other restaurants that were all closed on Sunday, but Viceroy was open 2) We didn’t have a reservation, but could sit at the social bar tables (which we loved) and 3) It was a short walk from the restaurant to DPAC. I will admit I was skeptical whether I would enjoy the food at Viceroy as I haven’t tried Indian food much over the years- I can now tell you I regret those missed opportunities! We ordered three dishes and split it amongst the four of us (and a bottle of wine too!) and had one of the most flavorful and delicious meals we have all had in awhile. We ordered the Jeera Wings, Chicken Korma, Hariyali Chicken and the Garlic Naan all at a medium spice level. Whew was it good. Highly recommend this restaurant from all aspects. The food came out quickly, it was delicious and the service was exceptional.
For an appetizer we had the crispy battered cauliflower sautéed with onion, pepper, curry leaves which was delicious. For the main entre, I had the Lamb Korma which was very good, if not as spicy as I thought it would be. I like lamb curry but had never tried korma; I will go back to curry next time. My wife had the Hariyali chicken, which was green-herb yogurt marinated chicken breast tossed with onion and spice which she liked very much. It was very atmospheric – kind of an English setting – and the service was very good, explaining the dishes, making suggestions and being attentive to our table. My wife generally does not like Indian food but she liked the Viceroy very much and we both look forward to returning.
Damn! Wow! This place is a gem... You want indian food done right then you may want to take a look at this place. The decor is great and the food rates up there with the best Indian restaurant in the areas. The spicy level is just right where you can still enjoy the flavors. !I got the classic Butter Chicken or as this place called it Murg Makhanwala. Don't forget to order the Momo Bhel and the Sausage Rolls for appetizers.Stop by and say hey to BJ, the owner! He is usually walking around talking to the diners.Bon Appetit!
